Absolutely loved this book. I'm a sci fi/fantasy fan so i'm used to the genre but i've never read anything like this. It was so intertwined w/factual history that i had to keep reminding myself it was fiction...... or is it? :-)

this book is about 30 years after the others, and you get to see how each previous character turned out - kiara, syn & shahara, darling, hauk, jay. they are all now royalty or high ranking officials living openly. in this book you meet their children, who were all raised together. i really liked the characters. they were all trained since birth to be assassins, filtchs,or smugglers like their parents for charitable purposes. this story is about devyn, syn & shahara's son. he was a league doctor and flipped one day over the bombing of a village and killed his unit and saved his adopted son. so now he's traveling around the galaxy and fighting the good fight by smuggling medical supplies to impoverished areas. of course, the league wants him dead. also one of syn's enemies in a high ranking position sent in a spy, alix, to dig up dirt on Devyn, they fall in love, lots of fighting, betrayal, etc. i loved the book, it was similar to syn and shahara's story except most of the people hadn't had the horrible childhoods they did. the characters are more confident of their self-worth and place in the world - on top.

i thought hamilton was turning the curve with the last book by not focusing on sex anymore. i was wrong, this book is all about sex.

If I could rank 0 I would. Not much sex which was good. But literally 646 pages of metaphysical emotional crap. Then finally at p.647 we are about to meet the bad guy. It ends at p.708. Library loan so the only thing I wasted was my time. Since the author is now in a poly relationship, her books are pure wish fulfillment. No plot in sight.

This is the first book of the series that i thought was a waste of time. only two vampire battles the rest was all about Zacharis emotions. definitely a filler. so the question is now that everyone in the series has a lifemate. what's next?

i love series but am starting to think that they should be limited to about 5 books because as they go on they get boring. this is one of those series. barely a plot, and barely any focus on the previous characters except Sookie. The only good thing about this book is Sookie is losing her innocence, and becoming more ruthless - which should have happened a long time ago as far as i'm concerned.

I love that this series is still good. I enjoyed the focus on Adam, Mercy & Jessie in this book, rather than all of the pack politics. And I'm so happy Adam FINALLY shut the pack down from disrespecting Mercy-that story line was getting tired considering how often she has saved their lives.

it was a good read, not much character development. and it seems Hamilton can't stick a good ending lately.

I love this series! Each book gets better, always has an exciting plot, even the subplots lead to the main plot. Can't wait for the next one.

i waited months for this book, even considered buying it but couldn't find it in the bookstore. i'm glad i didn't buy it. i almost gave up mid book, but unfortunately i can't put a book down until i have finished it. there wasn't much romance and most of the stories were pretty sad. some of the stories ended without making the necessary connections - most seemed like rough drafts not ready for publishing. even some of my favorite authors flaked here. the only interesting thing for me was that there are so many variations on the vamp myth and i heard some that i had never heard before (e.g. Vicki Peterson's Remember the Blood that told of vampires losing their memory each year). bottom line - wait for swap.

I've loved every single book in this series, but this was a huge disappointment. Long, boring, repetitive for 350 of the 400 pages. If this is all you've got, please end the series now. Don't be like Laurel K. Hamilton and torture fans.

I was slow to read this book because it's youth fiction. However, my nephew told me i had to read it and gave me his kindle for the duration of our family vacation to do so. I absolutely loved the first two books (read them in 3 days). But this one disappointed me. it was boring, dragged on, and the ending was anti-climatic. after all that happened, i would have liked to have more than 2 pages on what happened in the future. i so wish the author gave us a great ending to go with the great series.

Briggs always leaves me wanting more each and every time, and this was no exception. it's good to see Briggs embracing her Alpha status. I was a bit annoyed at Briggs always holding herself back because she didn't want to appear jealous and alienate the Pack. I thought that was a ridiculous theme considering the possessiveness of pack members. I also didn't appreciate how the pack treated her seeing as how she has proven herself to be a better warrior than most of them and put her life on the line for them time and time again. I guess my description tells you how much I am invested in the characters :-). I like that Mercy may have a new ally. Looking forward to the next book.

the series was great. too bad she crashed on this one. it dragged on and then she didn't even explain how they captured the enemy. she described it in two sentences. should have really planned a good ending since most of the book sucked.

Daneus narrates this story. It was good to hear his side but i wish Mira could have told her point of view at times, the series is about her afterall. I guess the purpose of this book was to introduce the bori. a few naturi were killed, lots of action and the usual fighting, but it dragged on. it felt like a filler to build to the next book. if it hadn't been for the ending - a complete surprise- i would have strongly considered whether the next one was worth it. now i do want to read the next one but i hope Mira tells that story.

Up to now a great series. This appears to be a build up for future books. The best part of this series to me is the sister interaction but in this book Menolly was absent and Delilah barely present. Much of this book was spent in Camille's head. Lots of foreshadowing but overall pretty boring.

The Rag Bone Man (Llewellyn's Psi-Fi Series : the Merrywell Trilogy, Part 1)

this was horrible. Rian doesn't believe in the paranormal (the whole basis of the book) for the first 200 pages and it's a 300 page book.
