Helpful Score: 1
This is book 2 in the Janie series. I loved book 1 but thought the series went downhill as it progressed.

Janie tries to adjust to being Jennie. I found the feelings of the characters to be very realistic, and I liked seeing the different points of view. [sequel to The Face on the Milk Carton]

This was such a sad story. I am not someone who cries usually but this one got me. What a heartbreaking story. It is so hard to wrap my head around and think of what I would have done in that situation. There was sadness all around too, the couple who raised Janie believing she was their granddaughter, the real parents, the boyfriend, the siblings of Jenny. It is hard enough being a teenager without situations like that.

I am 40 and I loved this book. I read it on vacation in one day because I couldn't put it down. I now have requested the next in this series and more Caroline B Cooney books. Great book and very easy to follow since it is for teens. I enjoyed it.
Young adult. Companion to The Face on the Milk Carton. Good stand alone book. Janie Johnson is the 16 year old only child of two loving parents. She is also 15 year old Jennie Spring, kidnapped from a loving family of seven when she was 3 and given to the Johnsons as their granddaughter. With the kidnapping revealed Janie struggles with her identity and the claims of two families. Who is she really and how can her two families ever both be happy?

great suspense and mystery, companion to the face on the milk carton, but can stand alone
Follow-up to The Face on the Milk Carton, excellent sequel.
Very good adolescent fiction. On top Long Island, NY school reading lists.

If I could rate this book a 20, I would! It is the most awesome book ever!
Janie is allergic to milk. But when she steals her friends milk, she sees a picture on it. Not just any picture, a toddler picture. Her toddler picture! She calls the parents and tells them that yes, this is their long lost daughter that was KIDNAPPED!
Who will Janie like better her "fake" parents or her "real" parents?

Ive always been conflicted about this book. Im a huge what happens next kind of person, but in some way, I dont really want anything more to happen to Janie. Everyone involved in these stories has suffered immeasurably and I very much want things to be better. But life doesnt usually work that way, so why would a book?
Id first like to acknowledge that this story is pretty implausible. I know that most kids who are kidnapped arent really living safely with another family. They dont usually come home. And they definitely dont get to choose anything that goes along with this. But if you set that all aside, I still say this is a reasonably realistic set of books.
