I had no expectations from this book and I was hooked from the very 1st chapter. I read it in two sittings. It's delightful and if you believe in true love, family secrets and think your family is normal, this book is eye opening and the one for you!

Without being too preachy, this Christian Fiction novel tells the story of Inn owners Jack and Laurel Cooper through letters that Jack wrote to Laurel every Wednesday through the years of their marriage. When Jack and Laurel die in each others arms, the children are called home to make arrangements and while clearing out old boxes in the basement, family friend A&P (her nickname has its own story) comes across these letters and the lives of their parents are laid out in front of them. Through laughter and tears the children come to know their parents in a different way and to know the truth that was hidden from them.
A great cast of characters whom each have their own stories and weave their lives around a deeply caring community of friends and loved ones.

I read this book in one day. I loved the main characters, and it was such a joy to read a book without the vulgar language and situations found in so many of todays books.

This book had some unexpected twists. I hated having to put it down and was anxious to get back to the story each time.
Jason sent me an advanced copy of this book a few months ago. I have shared it with several friends & family members and everyone has loved it. Jason writes such fantastic novels that you feel like you really know the characters. Try Christmas Jars, another fantastic book. It's being made into a movie for this years holiday season.

I loved this book! Once I started I couldn't put it down. I would say that his writing is similar to Nicholas Sparks. I would recommend this book to my friends, it's worth the read.

Lovely story, quick read. An interesting look at how siblings come together at the death of their parents. Much is revealed about each of them as the story progresses and they learn to know new aspects of their parents and thier life together. Difficult situations and the love that brings them through are the highlights. Light reading but we all need to indulge ourselves sometimes. Enjoy!

Jack & Laurel are found dead together one morning, leaving behind their three grown children. Matthew, Samantha and Malcolm find letters Jack wrote Laurel every Wednesday since their wedding day. In those letters, the kids learn about unconditional love, the struggles of marriage, a huge family secret, and forgiveness.
I enjoyed the story very much, but felt frustrated that several of the characters were left unexplained. I love the concept of Wednesday Letters...just wish the author had delved more into Joe, Nathan & the preacher to explain their characters more fully.

A sad little book trying too hard. The concept of losing your parents and finding out their secrets all of a weekend has lots of merit, but Wright definitely didn't pull it off. It was not well written, and it was very predictable. He also got many funeral details incorrect. Concept should be retried by someone who can write much better.

I picked this up on a whim at the bookstore and it was a winner! The published reviews said it is "reminisent of The Notebook." Having never read that book, I have to go from blind.

Can you imagine losing your parents at the same time and then to discover their love, pain, and family secrets in letters left behind. The book is a wonderful love story revealed in the weekly letters written by a husband to his wife. Their entire life is revealed to you and to their three children left behind after their sudden death.
Very enjoyable read and once you pick it up and read the first letter you will not want to put it down until you have read the very last one.

Such a touching and romantic book. It is amazing the things that can happen in a relationship that children don't know and take for granted, and how people can overcome so much! This is a perfect read for couple that are starting out and to help them look to the future through hard times and maybe ways to keep communication going... awesome!

What a lovely, lovely story of personal relationships, hurts, and reconciliations. Before heading to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, I arbitrarily grabbed books from my "To Read" stack. Once there and I began reading The Wednesday letters, I discovered that the book is set in the two towns I was visiting: Mount Jackson and Woodstock. To everyone I met up there I said,"Have your read The Wednesday Letters set right here? " Sadly, over and over the answer was "No." I am going to buy used copies everywhere I see them and hand them out to people to read. It is that good. I would say that the author rivals Nicholas Sparks in being able to tell a good, tender story. I loved it!

This was such an excellent story of love throughout generations of unique family dynamics. The writer made all the characters relatable and I loved the surprise envelope tucked in the back of the book. I could not wait to read the letter in it. If you like surprises you will love this book!

I received this book on Friday and finished it Saturday. I had a hard time putting it down. It is a wonderful story and it makes you wish you could be part of the Cooper family. The story opens with the death of the parents of 3 adult children and before you know it you are wrapped up in their lives and the lives of their parents. The letters are letters from the father to the mom, one every wednesday starting with the day of their marriage and ending the day they die. The letters lay out their life together,from their every day lives to the secrets they kept, and the reactions of their children as they read them. My one criticism would be that each little loose end was too neatly tied up, leaving the reader no opportunity to wonder "what if?"
I don't know that I've ever cried reading a book as much as I did this one. Amazingly romantic, yet suspenseful. I felt Malcom's pain, as well as all of their shock. The B&B sounded beautiful and peaceful. I think this author did a wonderful job in writing this book.

Easily readable, the story was ok up until the surprise ending which was a bit too unbelievable for me, even as it does redeem the idea that Laurel was cheating on Jack. However, I rated it down because using rape as a plot device is lazy, and again, the biological father being who he is, was a stretch, that they kept in touch and knew who he was. As others have said this is a story about many kinds of forgiveness, but all the different issues (Jack/Laurel and the baby, Malcolm and Rain, Malcolm and Nathan, Uncle Joe, Matthew and his wife Monica, the priest, etc.) just happily working themselves out in the end was too neat, and not explained well throughout the book. Ugh, definitely the Hallmark Hall of Fame story here.

I will not be posting this book, because my copy is not good enough to put on the site...but I wanted to write a review about this book anyway. It was just too good to pass up letting people know how much I enjoyed this book. It was funny, sad and uplifting all in the same book. At times it brought me to tears and others I laughed out loud. There is so much good advice interspersed regarding relationships of marriages, new couples and raising children. This is not a long book and would be good for everyone to read if they would. I had to look twice to see who published this book, because I thought maybe I had been incorrect. It could have been published by Bethany House or any of the more religious books type publishers. I hope that some are not turned off by that, because this is one for all...there is something for everyone.
This was my first book by this author, and I absolutely loved it. I was prompted to read it when my wishlisted book The Wedding Letters was offered to me. I read this book very quickly as it kept my interest from the beginning. It is such a great story; I hope it is made into a movie. Both, The Wednesday Letters and The Wedding Letters, get 5 stars from me.

I bought this book because my father had just recently passed away and my last name is Wright. I thought that it would remind me of my mother and I and the journal my mother kept while my father was sick. It was completely different than what I thought. It was a good book, especially the letters written back and forth from husband to wife, but it didn't hit me the way I thought it was going to. It was a short book that I wish included more to give me what I was looking for. I also thought that it would remind me of the movie the Notebook, but it really didn't, except for the beginning.
Decent book. Touching storyline and worth the time to read but not one i'll probably remember later. Worth using a credit for then passing on to someone else.

I found this book well written and moving...even a bit mysterious, which was not expected. A well worth it read.

A nice easy read. Catches of guard right of the bat. I love the love that the older couple share and how they share thier lives with so many other people. Not just one love story taking place in this book, and WAIT TILL THE END!!!! Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!!

I couldn't put this one down!!! A touch of romance combined with a sprinkling of mystery surround the deaths of the Coopers. Wright certainly did a fabulous job weaving a tale that captured me from the beginning & kept me turning pages,although a bit hesitantly at times. I didn't want it to end!!!

They read through them and figure out that the youngest son was not actually the Dad's child. So they go around saying all these horrible things about the Mom being a cheater. The letters indicate that the Dad was really mad at the Mom and left her for awhile.
Well..it turns out that Mom was raped by a homeless guy and got pregnant. Mom kept it a secret until the baby was one. She told Dad and Dad left her but then came back and "forgave" her for being raped. Then there is this whole diatribe about how the child of rape was a challenge from God, and how the Mom loved God sooo much that she kept the child.
If that all wasn't bad enough it gets worse....
The Dad goes to the rapist trial and sees that the rapist has also found God. When the rapist gets out of jail the Dad brings him back to the town and he becomes a priest!!! The family priest.
