This is the story of a little boy and his helpful older brother who'd like to have the tub filled deep with water for their baths. It overflows when older brother turns it all the way up and the pipes burst. The live in an apt. and soon they and everyone in their apt. then everyone on floors below are flooded as the boy rides through the apts. and finally the street in his tub.
Tedd Arnold is known for his "Parts" series of books but I think this one is even funnier and more creative. It's about a boy who sails his bathtub in a flood that cascades from the top to bottom of his apartment building. At every floor along the way, he meets neighbors who are swept up in the current and sail along on various objects (including a potty chair). As the list of names grows longer on every page, the chaos includes putting out an apartment fire. Our boy is a hero by the time he gets to the street! The rhyming text is delightful and the illustrations -- in true Tedd Arnold style -- are bursting with color and action. Every time I read this book I see something new. It's a "read again" for both kids and adults, and that's the best kind of children's book.
My kids relished this tale about a boy who takes off on an adventure in his bathtub!
