Overall this book was seriously disappointing. The âsupernaturalâ aspect was tiring after the first three chapters, the characters were underdeveloped, and for some reason there was extraneous information thrown in without explanation or connection to the plot, leaving you with this an overwhelming sense that this was two or three incomplete stories that Patterson and Roughan threw together to make one novel. I actually felt as if I had lost I.Q points after finishing this.

Not typical Patterson, but a great quick read...Kept me guessing exactly what was going on through the entire book...pay attention to the last few chapters otherwise you may finish the book and be a bit confused. Might have been tough for some readers. I loved how Patterson stepped outside of his comfort zone to explore something unique like the supernatural. Even if you do not love the book, you cannot put it down, because you MUST find out the ending.

To begin with, this book took me two weeks to read. Typically, I'd have a new Patterson finished in a day or two. Kristen experiences Deja something, but you don't really figure out what it is until the very end of the book. I was tired of her whining by chapter three or four. There are also numerous facts thrown in that don't contribute squat to the plot and left me shaking my head. I really wanted to like this book since a good friend bought me a brand spanking new hard back for my birthday, but to sum it up, this book sucked!

Hmmm. This was a very strange book. But it was the kind of strange that kept you reading to find out what the heck was going on and how does she get out of this mess. I don't think I have ever read a book from this perspective before but it makes you go WOW! and Hmmm! and Huh? I love James Patterson books and actually this was no exception, albeit different! I do recommend this book and an open mind while reading it. Just go with the flow and you will enjoy it.

Deeply disappointed in this book. Patterson is normally one of my favorites but this novel seems to have no logical plot line, extrodinary things occur with no explanation, the last chapter is supposed to tie all the threads together and it fails miserably. The main character is shallow and the others are so poorly written that they are totlly single dimensional. The mechanism of chapters marking time in the main character's perceptions result in a book with 111 chapters that reads in about an hour.

This is not like Patterson's style at all. If you go into the book with an open mind you will enjoy. If you are looking for the latest incarnation of The Women's Murder Club or Alex Cross you will be very disappointed. This is a horror/mystery with a mystical edge.

Just a warning! This book is not typical James Patterson. It is hard to describe but it is "weird". Almost like Stephen King or Dean Koontz rather than Patterson.

I am absolutely astonished that this book has yet to be posted or reviewed. I am not sure if it is or was a mainstream release but the book kept me on my toes. If you like thrills, suspense, and unexpected ( or at least I didn't see it coming) twists and turns then you should enjoy this James Patterson page turner.

Well, after reading some of the other reviews I definitely disagree. I am not all that familiar with James Patterson but according to the reviews, this book is a little different than his usual book. But that doesn't mean it is not a good book. I wish you could ask the reviewers if they would like the book had it been written by another author. If you like Variety, then you will like this book. I appreciate writers like Patterson but I do not want to read books that are too similar.

This book kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next and to uncover the mystery. I don't see anything wrong with books that reveals the secrets at the end, as long as I am entertained along the way. And I was definitely entertained.

Good. A page turner clear to the end. Has the suspense of a Patterson thriller but also a view point into the afterlife which I haven't seen in Patterson's books. I enjoyed this new twist of writing.

James Patterson cntinues to write enjoyable mysteries. In this book about Kristin, a nanny working for a powerful man and his snobby wife. We soon discover how Kristin gets herself into trouble. Her nightmares hold the truth that she sees only at the end of the book. Great reading while your traveling somewhere.

Classic Patterson, with a little King thrown in. The story of Kristen Burns, a young New York nanny with a passion for photography, who is also involved in an affair with the married man who employs her. Kristen's ambition of becoming a professional photographer leads her to take shots at random of things that interest her, and, as it turns out, some of the things she shoots haven't happened yet. Also, at about this time, she begins having precognitive dreams about four muders in a NYC hotel AND visits from her 12 years dead father (among others), an NYC homicide detective who is not what he appears to be and a mysterious blond haired, ponytailed man, all of whom seem to be warning Kristen about something, but she doesn't know for certain exactly what it is.

All of these events lead up to the inevitable cataclysmic end.

If you are a fan of Patterson's thrillers, I can almost guarantee that you won't be disappointed with You've Been Warned.

A James Patterson book like no other. This one had me wondering from the beginning what was going on. All I could do was to keep reading to see what all the warnings were about. It wasn't until the very end that you find out the whole story, so it keeps you in suspense the whole time. However, it is a fun read.

This was a fast read, even faster than usual Patterson books. That is because there's not much to this story. Its a weird plot and there's not much 'mystery' in it. I'm coming to expect to be disappointed with Patterson's co-written books.

This was definitely a change of pace for Patterson. It's not at all like his Cross or other detective/police thrillers. In fact, it reminded me more of a Dean Koontz horror type thriller. Perhaps it was written more by the co-author, Roughan, than by Patterson. That said, the story did keep me turning the pages trying to figure out what the heck was going on. I'm still not sure what some of the things that happened to Kristin meant such as the music she kept hearing, the hives she would keep breaking out in, and the cockroaches. Anyway, I still thought it was entertaining and as I said it was a page-turner. I read the whole thing in a few hours.

Believing that everything she has ever wanted is within her grasp, New York City photographer Kristin Burns suffers brutal recurring nightmares of increasing violence that eventually spills over into her every day life and convinces her that everyone she loves is in mortal danger.
I really enjoyed this book almost all the way through. Then as I got close to the end and knew I was going to be disappointed.

The characters lacked depth especially Kristin and the ending left a lot of questions unanswered. Perhaps putting out so many novels in a year, is not a good thing.

"The Quickie" by James Patterson & Michael Ledwidge was my first foray into the prolific world of James Patterson and I was pleasantly surprised. But I remained leery, yet curious about Patterson's mass market appeal. Was Patterson that good or was it novelty?

"You've Been Warned" starts off flat and somewhat similar to "The Quickie". Our main character, Kristin Burns, is a nanny and aspiring photographer. She's having an affair with Michael, a successful businessman, and is repeatedly warned that she is heading down a dangerous path; Kristin sees and talks to the dead, gets long distance phone calls from herself, and has cockroaches underneath her skin. Yet none of this can stop her from pursuing what she desires most, Michael.

This book reads like a bad Sharon Stone movie, but there's enough of a hook to keep you (morbidly) curious and guessing.

Way off base for a Patterson Novel. Enjoyed the book, as long as my mind set was NOT that this is a normal Patterson novel.

I was disappointed... but it was my own inattention to details that set me up. I didn't notice the "& Howard Roughan" part of the author(s) name(s) in the description & on the cover. I've found that when my favorite authors partner with another author, it's always disappointing. (i.e. Tom Clancy, Anne McCaffrey & others). Their talents are legend and should never be defiled by the partnership model. If James Patterson is not the author (and the only part of this book that suggests that he was is the short, 2- or 3-page chapters) then don't feature him as "THE AUTHOR". I find it deceptive.

My experiences with these books are that the book is written by the unknown author & the well-known author lends his name to the project (maybe/probably does a bit of editorial oversight) and the results are simply that... this unknown guy gets published and the reader gets disappointed. I feel like James Patterson has sold out.

This storyline starts with potential & sinks deeply into improbability (even in the land of supernatural fiction), creepiness and stupidity. The ending was so unsatisfactory.
Where did James Patterson go??? I want him back.

I love to read while riding the train to/from work. I could not put it down. It was so engrossing. It claims to be a psychological thriller - I'm not sure if its psycho for the characters or the reader. This was a great introduction to James Patterson.

This book was very confusing and not like the other books of James Patterson that I had read. I have come to expect a certain sense of fear, and dread of the unknown from his work. This book I just finished because I was a loyal reader. Certain parts of the book did not become clear until the end.

That said this is a good book. I would read it at the beach or on a road trip. The main character of the book is someone you root for even at the bitter end.

This is probably the strangest book I've read by James Patterson. It's very disjointed and bizarre. Amateur photographer Kristin Burns is having an affair with a married man and really weird things are happening to her. People on the street are addressing her by name and saying strange things. She repeatedly wakes up screaming from a bizarre recurring dream. She sees her dead father and a few other known dead people walking and talking around Manhattan. And now her photographs have weird anomalies. Nothing ties together and the story really doesn't flow. It's almost as if the two authors wrote each chapter and then just through them all together without thought.

Okay, PaperBack Swap members...You've been warned! This is NOT your typical James Patterson novel. He co-authored it with another writer, and the story isn't as tight or terrific as in the novels he writes himself. It's painfully obvious that this book was not a true Patterson work and that most of the book probably was written by Roughan. It's out of the Patterson genre and left me rooting for the demise of the "heroine."

Very unlike any other Patterson book I've read. Honestly, I did not care for it. I felt like I was reading a King book instead of Patterson. But, I still finished it hoping I would understand some of the "weirdness" of it. Didn't happen. Was disapointed to say the least. I may stick to the Alex Cross & Women's murder series from now on.
