I haven't come across many Viking romances, and I found this one fast paced and entertaining. Thyre is a very strong willed and capable woman for her time period. At the beginning of the book, she's pretty much running her stepfather's estate, and has been for years. While she and Ivar almost always don't see eye to eye he does come to respect and love her. Overall, The Viking's Captive Princess is a nice quick read.

The story was ok. It had a promising premise. Woman is the daughter of a king. Hides her identity from birth. Warrior comes to her village and takes her with him. I didn't much like the "manly man" of the warrior. He didn't seem respectful of her at all, and he was suppose to be doing things for her own good. She wasn't treated well by him. He has major trust issues and resents the princess, thinking she is trying to manipulate him. when in fact she is just inexperienced and being honest.

I didn't finish it because I wanted to punch the hero. Maybe that's the way he was suppose to be. Also, everyone talks so stiffly. Like they don't even know english. It was almost laughable. I felt like an American Indian was going to come out of a classic 1950's movie and say "How." Even though it took place with the Viken.

I just didn't feel the depth of emotion behind the characters. It could have have been so much better. I give it 2 stars because it held my attention for over 100 pages.
