I felt like I was in a blizzard driving upstate NY to the Catskills. I was skidding off the snowy road, afraid to drive further when I finally reached my destination; a remote luxury hotel deep in the woods.

Some guests were already there, shivering by the fire, and more guests arrived shaken and frozen.
I felt part of this story immediately and loved every minute of it.

After meeting everyone including the owner and his son, opinions were formed and the story moves on. Then someone was murdered, the power goes off and lots of secrets are revealed in the dark.

It's like reading Ten Little Indians, as one murder follows another, and I devoured this book in a few hours!

Loved it.

I loved this book! It kept me guessing up until the very end who was murdering everyone. Read the entire book in a few hours.

This was my favorite of the Shari LaPena books I have read. It felt like reading an Agatha Christie book. A large cast of seemingly unconnected characters stuck together with no ability to escape. I kept changing my mind about âwhodunnitâ, but was surprised at the ending. A page turner.

A group of people gather at Mitchell's Inn in the Catskills. There is a blizzard brewing outside and bodies are starting to show up. This book reminded me of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. With no cell phone service at this getaway hotel things start to get a little hairy. There are twists and turns that make it hard to pick the killer. The pages turned quickly as I tried to get to the end and it was a bit of a surprise for me! I have read The Couple Next Door and look forward to reading A Stranger in the House soon. I would also recommend this book to those who love mystery suspense.

This is the first book I've read by Shari Lapena, & I loved it!! She keeps your attention, & doesn't draw everything out with too many unimportant details. I am already looking for another book by this author!

A number of people are snowed in at a lodge in the countryside when they start getting murdered one by one. Total rip off of Agatha Christie's writing. I didn't care about any of the character and gave up around 80 pages in. Life is too short to waste time reading books that are of no interest! Not as good as her usual thrillers.

My first book by this author. Although some language I don't particularly care for but the story is a very good thriller/mystery. A real "who done it" type of story. It has a very interesting story line that pulls you in and hard to put down. I would not suggest reading late at night with minimal lighting, but that's just me.

A fast paced read!, in the Agatha Christie style! Twelve people snowed in at an upscale hostel in the Catskills....an â accidental â death? Terror mounts as a second body is discovered...Secrets about the guests are slowly revealed...Could not put this book down!

This was a good Agatha Christie style locked room mystery.  A group of strangers are staying at a boutique hotel in upstate NY and slowly but surely they start dying one by one.  I liked that the mystery of who-done-it kept me guessing until the end and I liked the neat little twist at the end too.  The author does a great job of making you feel like you are snowed in with no electricity and a murderer on the loose.  The story moved a little slowly for me and I didn't care for all the characters.  All in all I'd say this is a 3 1/2 star (out of 5) read for me.

Easy to read (and I liked the fact of so many breaks in the narrative since I read so slowly.) It kept my attention, although I wasn't that satisfied with the ending. It seemed a little abrupt, even though the book is pretty long for its type. I thought some of the characters acted in ways I found hard to believe.

Excellent mystery! I didn't figure out the culprit until close to the ending. Shari Lapena writes a terrific mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. Highly recommend.

This was great Winter reading! A remote isolated hotel in the midst of an ice storm with no power or phones and a murderer among the guests trapped there. I loved the atmosphere and I never solved the mystery until the murderer was finally revealed.
