The final one in the series, thanks to the publisher who cancelled further installments after the manuscript had been submitted. Because of this, there is no clear ending to the book, which is a bit disappointing. I would've liked to have seen the relationships wrapped up and know what happened to the main characters lives after the war. Despite this, the book was as good as the rest of the series was. Well written, decent plot and some unexpected surprises.

this is frankly a "tie up the loose ends" book. The mystery is almost non-existant, and Lady Elizabeth just desides on her own that there IS a mystery for no reason that is really appearant to anyone else. It wasn't the best in the series, but at least it does let you know what happens to our favourite characters from the series.

This whole series written by Kate Kingsbury is so well-written and so enjoyable I was almost heart-broken when one of the characters is believed dead. Each book has its own adventure and each story has wonderful characters and great plots. The character of Lady Elizabeth Hartleigh Compton is so well written you can sympathize with her situation. This story takes place in WWII and Lady Elizabeth is the Lady of the Manor House. Everyone is faced with food shortages and fear for their loved ones fighting in the war. In the village of Sitting Marsh all the villagers depend on her to keep things going and running smoothly. The second character of Major Earl Monroe, an American officer flies over Germany and France...leavening Lady Liz to worry about him...will he return safely..... Anyone who reads this series will love it and wish for more....great series.

I really enjoyed this series, but didn't feel this was a very good "last hurrah". The storyline of this book was ok, but there was an "unfinished" feel to several recurring issues from the series. It just wasn't a very good ending note.

This is the last book of this series, and I really hated it to end! The setting is WWII, in a small English village, close to a American military base. A cozy mystery at it's best..

A good cozy mystery and a good ending to the series.

Since the author says this is the last book in the series, I won't give away the plot. But I didn't feel she had completely tied up all the loose ends. Still, it was enjoyable.

Another great story in this series, and the final for the Manor House. I will miss the series and hope that some day she might do a sequel. She ties up the ending nicely and with her usual good humor. Sadie and Polly once again have a riotous time and a couple of sections are a real hoot. Very enjoyable series in total.

This is an enjoyable book and offers, in a somewhat lighthearted manner, a little insight into the wartime conditions in England. Ration books, meatless meals, blackouts and more were some of their everyday realities. The knicker twist was just added fun.
