My first Stuart Woods book and I was not disappointed! Very well written, it's one of those stories that keep you reading. The characters are real with flaws just like anyone else, and the story is really believable.
A real page turner! I loved it!

This book was soooooooo good!!! A writer moves into a small cabin by a lake in order to work on his latest book. He soon finds himself seeing apparitions of a little girl in his cabin and a house out in the lake. Why are the townspeople, especially the sheriff and the town's founder so wary of him? Who is the little ghost girl? Not only does this book have the supernatural element, it also has murder, drug dealers, and dirty cops. A stellar book!

This is part mystery, part ghost story. What are the lights under the lake? Are the rumors of corruption, incest and cruelty long ago true? It's not just another story....it will stay with you.

"Part detective story, part ghost story, part southern gothic... it scared the living hell out of me!" - Stephen King
Stuart Woods is an author like no other. I love all of his books. This one was not the greatest but not the worst either.
Part detective story, part ghost story, part southern gothic.
The Edgar Award-winning author of Chiefs (basis of a TV miniseries) and the bestselling Deep Lie now offers a highly readable if somewhat overheated thriller-cum-gothic that includes murder, drug smuggling, faith healing, hallucinations, revenants and incest. A one-time ace reporter rents a cabin in a backwoods Georgia town, then stumbles upon and determines to solve the town mystery, which involves a seemingly affable sheriff, an autocratic town father and an incest-ridden family whose once-prosperous farm now lies under a lake. He joins forces with a plucky female reporter bent on proving that the sheriff is "dirty," and there's never a dull moment as the story surges toward its exciting climax. The conclusion is a little too far-fetchedbut by that time readers have had more than their money's worth
Very good reading. Many twists and turns.
I like all of Stuart Woods' books.
This is one of the best books I have read. It has ghosts, detectives, and lots of mystery. It kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end.
Pretty good read. I usually enjoy Stuart Woods' books and this was no exception.
I really like this author, great story!!
Great story plot...seeing things under the water that took place many years before..must read!
I really liked this book. I read it on my husband's recommendation and couldn't put it down!
Mystery, back-woods Georgia secrets with a little supernatural thrown in. Stephen King says it scared the living hell out of him! This one is not to be missed.
What lies submerged under the lake at Sutherland, Ga? What secrets, sins and horrors? Those rumors of corruption, incest and hideous savagery long ago, can they be true? And the lights under the lkae, that strange little girl -- Are they warnings of terrible danger?
A very compelling horror thriller about a burnt out reporter's investigation of the strange occurrences and secrets revolving around a small town Georgian lake.

I really enjoyed this book. It was the first, I have read by this author, but I will be reading more of his books. read the last 1/2 in about an evening. couldn't put it down.
An okay story that evokes the small town in Georgia well. The main character is someone I lost patience with over his boozing (as another, wise, character remarks on). My main issue with it didn't come until very near the end when an outlandish coincidence is sprung on the reader. The supernatural aspect is pretty much underplayed in favor of a plot about trying to uncover shady goings-on by a prominent figure in the town.
This was memorable and Just a Classic Stuart Woods Story! I was glued to the book from the first page!..Woods, as usual weaves an interesting and at times heart stopping tale that twists & turns right up to the last page! This is a Keeper! (But please pass it on!):-)
This is a good mystery that keeps you guessing a bit. It has several twists and turns and is a good read.
This is one of his best.
Easy read, quick pace and great characters.
Good author - can't put his writings down...
This is the first Stuart Woods book that I have read, but it will not be the last. A very good story with an unpredictable ending.
My first Stuart Woods book and I enjoyed the story very much. I loved all of his characters and the main one had a lot of experiences. A great start for me with Stuart Woods.
One of my favorite Stuart Woods stories. Starts slowly, but then the intensity builds, until it ends with a great twist. I was expecting it to be a lot scarier, but it was no scarier than most thrillers.
This was such an easy read. I liked it.
Whatever he writes, it always keeps you interested. This was a great book.
Stuart Woods is a fine author. Under the Lake is a typical example of his work. A very good read.
My second Stuart Woods book. I was pleasantly surprised at the supernatural twist this one has, or maybe it doesn't, Woods leaves us wondering. I loved his character creation, we really get to know them, and their motivations. I will definitely read more Stuart Woods novels,
