Not one of his better books. I found it to be very dull & dragged on & on. Too much detail on the history. It does have it's good parts & was worth reading it to the end.

Absolutely the best..... this is an incredible journey with tears, love, and a true slice of life with its blessings and fobiles. Could hardly stop listening as I wanted to hear how it ended long before the last CD played. You too will be enthralled with this masterpiece of story telling and vivid artistry of word pictures. Perfect for teens and older readers. Read or listen ( as the case maybe) this one first and be sure to follow with next in series....At First Sight! You'll be glad you did, it will be engaging for you without a doubt.
I have loved everything I have read or heard of Nicholas Sparks work. This is another in a line of really good works. The name is all I look for any more.
Nicholas Sparks does it again. Great love story...loved it
The intricacies of love at first sight, entwined with two people from very different places. The big apple and the very small southern town where the idea of love at first sight is born, but questioned. Nicholas Sparks at his best, defining all the emotions of true love as only he can.
Though a lovely romance the mystery of the lights keeps pulling me along hoping there will be a resolution. My only criticism is the reader's voice. David Aaron Baker is fine interpreting the men but the women, of course being Southern, sound insipid. I think women sound better reading these stories.
This is mostly a love story, and I love romances, but I thought this book was a little mushy. But then, I'm 70 years old. A younger person would probably enjoy it more than I did.

Yikes...I'm a Nicholas Sparks fan but I couldn't make it through this one. Filled with cliche writing, hokey characters and ho hum plot. Sorry, Nick.
