Jack Reacher - how to describe him? You want him as your protector, your brother, your lover. And yet there is that place where he is almost too scary to have around while you are sleeping. The character grows in this book and we find out more about his Army family than we have before.
Could not put it down!

I only recently began reading Lee Child's Jack Reacher books. Every one so far has been a page turner that I cannot put down. This one was no different. I love the strong, intelligent character of Reacher and that I cannot anticipate all the twists and turns the plot will make, or the final outcome. So many books of the genre are predicable from beginning to end, but so far not with Lee Child's books.

I have been reading the Reacher novels in order. This is the 3rd in the series and it seems like they are getting better and better. This one was fast-paced as usual, it introduced a love interest for Reacher, and it had a very despicable bad guy. Another high recommendation for a great series!

I've read nearly all of the Jack Reacher novels and have loved every one. But this one stands out and I enjoyed it tremendously. Very involving, deeply thought-provoking. The hero is fabulous; the bad guy is really evil. Enjoy!

Always a pleasure to read about Jack Reacher, however, the answer to this one was a little too out of left field for me. Still, a must read to complete the series.

Jack Reacher series. Swift, stylish and suspensfull.
In Tripwire, Reacher's lazy anonymity in Key West is shattered by a stranger who comes to town searching for him. Hours after his arrival, the stranger turns up beaten to death in the Old Town cemetery, & Reacher is foreced to follow the man's cold trail back to New York to firnd the people who dispatched him in the first place: a bewildered & elderly couple still morning an all-American son lost in Vietnam; an alluring & intelligent woman from Reacher's own haunted past; and at the center of the web, the most vicious opponent Reacher has ever faced.

Third in the Jack Reacher series - I enjoyed it and can't wait to read #4.

I've enjoyed Lee Child in the past and Jack Reacher has been a favorite of mine. This however was not one of those that I really enjoyed. This just seemed to be 400 pages of not much happening, yet I read all the way through, thinking that this had to get better. Well other than the last two chapters, it really never did. This just never seemed to get off the ground for me. Oh, sure there were a few hot spots in there, but for me they seemed far and few between and never lasted long.... a long, slow tease that never materialized into anything more.

If this had been my first foray into the life of Jack Reacher, it probably would have been my last, but I know that Lee Child is so much better than this, that I will definitely be back for more.

I love the Jack Reacher novels! Each story is well-plotted and filled with characters who are interesting and believable. The action is non-stop and Reacher is a hero with almost superhuman powers. He is always a champion of the underdog and can take on and outsmart any bad guy who goes up against him. This is the best of all the Jack Reacher books I've read yet. I'll probably go into withdrawal once I've finished all of them.

The on-set of the story is mysterious--once started one is sure they have solved the mystery--but it's not until the end that the truth is revealed. A good read!!!

First time reading any of these books-really enjoyed it.I am usually more of a Science fiction/Fantasy reader, but these were fun. Love the Jack Reacher character, can't believe they picked Tom Cruise to play the part in the movie, he does NOT work for me at all! Anyway-these books were fun,and interesting.I will read more.

Jack Reacher, an ex-military cop does his heroic magic again in this series. Very entertaining as usual. (One small note - parts of this book take place on the 88th floor of one of the Twin Towers. Clearly, the book was written prior to 9/11/2001 but the references to the World Trade Center, the 88th floor of all floors, and to the building's "noises", were a bit eerie for me.)

Suspense fiction doesn't get much better than Tripwire. When Jack Reacher is tracked down by a private PI, Reacher's first response is to deny his identity. But when he finds the PI murdered, he sets out to find out who was trying to find him and why.

He quest takes him into a dark mystery that was set in motion years ago during the Vietnam war. His showdown with evil is inevitable, and when it happens, it's horrific.

This novel has 559 pages, but as the print is a bit larger then usual, the pages flew by. This is only my third "Jack Reacher" novel, but I read others at the same time as I dislike thrillers and books which have violence against women and children. Having said that, while it was hinted it might happen, that type of violence didn't occur. So at those points I only returned to the story when I was in a more forgiving mood.

As for the sex, Lee Child does have his protagonist engage in such in his books, but it is usually just referred to and not described in detail. I'm not a fan of detailed sex in books. When it occurs I figure the author has run out of good plot ideas.

In some ways this was the creepiest of the three I've read so far, as some things which happened "off screen" were disturbing to me.

And it seemed there was more filler in this one than the last two. I also wondered at some things which were left unresolved in the plot. And somehow I don't think they will be wrapped up in the next book, as, except for Jack Reacher, Child seems to bring in an entire new cast of characters with each novel. I guess I'll have to read the next one sometime to find out

How tough is Reacher?

This is the 5th book I've read by this author. I did not think it was quite as good as the others I have read - the relationship with the "long lost love" kept getting in the way of the plot and the author included a lot of expository paragraphs that slowed things down in a few places. There was an interesting twist near the end that I didn't expect, changing the identity of a main character.

My first Jack Reacher book. I was addicted immediately. Fast paced, hard hitting action and really clever plot twists. This is not your mama's mystery book.

While this is not as terrifying as some of Lee Child's other books, the story is gripping and hard to put down. So far it is my favorite.
