Roe is thinking of joining her mother's Realtor business after she inherits a large sum of money and quits her library job. But finding another dead body in a house she's showing is starting to give her doubts.
Once again, Roe decides no one can solve the murder better than she can, and ends up in trouble.....again.
And she's finally found romance! For me, this was the weakest part of the book. Yes, love at first sight can happen, but when you've got your doubts, and your new squeeze is a tough guy and a possible suspect, shouldn't you reserve judgement for a teeny weeny little while? Not Roe! Let's just jump in and decide you love the guy after, what, a WEEK? Um, okay, if you're fifteen, not thirty.
Let's just say I thought Harris was starting to wonder what to do with Roe and this sets up the next few books. Can't wait to see if I'm right or not.
Definitely a good book, great plot, and interesting characters, though a little on the weak side. I'm interested to see where this storyline goes.

Former librarian Aurora Teagarden, basking in the inheritance which made her financially independent and allowed her to quit her job at the library, is now seeking a new occupation to keep her from going stir crazy with boredom. Perhaps she'll follow in her mother's footsteps and become a highly successful real estate agent.... Unfortunately, as Roe embarks on her apprenticeship showing houses, she instead seems to be turning up corpses instead: two dead real estate agents in only a week's time! Maybe it's not quite so bad as it could be though.... After all, she may not have met the enigmatically handsome Martin Bartell otherwise. :D
I thoroughly enjoyed this 3rd story in the Aurora Teagarden mysteries. As usual, Aurora finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation, she's actually been the one to find the bodies both times. And it seems like she may finally have a hot and stimulating love interest now too! ;)
The reading is quick paced and the mystery keeps you guessing right up until the very end, when as usual, Roe figures out who's behind it all before the police do. However, I found her actions in confronting the suspect herself pretty stupid on her part. One of these days, she's gonna get herself killed! Heh, maybe that's why Ms. Harris ended this series. Maybe Roe finally did one (brave yet) stupid thing too many in the final book (book 8) and ended the series. LOL

The Aurora Teagarden mysteries as a whole are easy reads, good basic mysteries with a captivating protagonist. I particularly liked this one for the number of suspects available.

This third book in the Aurora Teagarden crime series is even better than the previous two. It is easy to see the development of the author's technique in writing these fairly light crime, mystery novels. Aurora, the main character seems to be developing as a person, too. Although the police find it strange that she seems to be at every crime scene before them, the small town setting, and develpment of the quirky citizens who all know each other's business, make the wrap-up of each crime surprising. Easy light read. I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Quick read mystery. Has small romance buildup, but cuts away when they get together so don't read if you want a mystery/romance. The obvious culprit, was too obvious, so at least my best guess on who done it was wrong, for which I was very grateful.

I just finished reading this complete series (8 books) and I feel Charlaine Harris did an excellent job with the characters, unexpected twists and plots. I often read an entire book in one setting so I could find out who did it and why!

Although Charlaine Harris is now best-known for her Sookie Stackhouse fantasy novels that were made into the TV series True Blood, I first encountered her work when I read her Aurora Teagarden series of murder mysteries. In this book, Aurora has quit her job as a librarian after inheriting some money from a friend. She is considering joining her mother's very successful real estate business, but when she begins to show a very sexy man around the Anderton mansion, they discover the luridly displayed corpse of another real estate agent known for her sexual escapades. One of the things I like about these novels is how much Aurora finds out just by taking the obligatory casserole to the bereaved and following other customs of small towns. I can recommend this book both for the mystery and also for Aurora's new love interest, Martin Bartell.
Great story, as are all of the Teagarden mysteries.

Another great "Roe" Teagarden mystery, love her, and had no idea who did! She finally gets some romance in this one~ ;)
I am enjoying this series. This is the third in the series and Aurora is an interesting character.

I've read books 1-3 now in this series and this was the best - each one gets better as you get to know the main characters more.
Charlaine Harris is an amazing storyteller. I enjoy all of her various series. I especially love the Sookie Stackhouse books, but am loving the Harper Connelly series too. And now I'm into Aurora Teagarden - they are all such fun, fast reads!

Harris' Aurora Teagarden is a delightful character. I've enjoyed all of the books in this series. I recommened them frequently to friends.

I really loved this one. I like it when I can't guess until the end "who did it". Even though it is about murder and poor Aurora always seems to attract bad things, it was what I call a light book to read. I highly recommend it.

Excellent 3rd book in the Aurora "Roe" Teagarden cozy mystery series. I really like the unpretentious style of writing and that the main character is developing more in each book. I will be looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is a fun cozy series, not as fluffy as some but certainly not bleak or gory. I like the series, I like the characters, there's some funny bits. We do get to read a lot about Roe's clothing choices. Okay for a new reader to start here but the relationships are getting complicated, and Harris does only desultory backstory for them.

It's a simple if shocking question, and former librarian Aurora Teagarden is just the person to find the answer. And who better to teach her the tricks of the trade than her Lauren Bacall look-alike mother, Aida Brattle Teagarden Queensland, who happens to own one of the major real estate firms in town? Signing on as an apprentice, Roe agrees to show an expensive house to some out-of-town clients. The house has its charms, but the clients are not too thrilled with what's been left behind in the master bedroom: the corpse of real estate woman Tonia Lee Greenhouse. And Tonia's only the first victim. It quickly becomes clear that the killer is someone familiar with the real estate community in Lawrenceton, someone who has access to the houses that are on the market. Roe's not too sure she likes real estate, after all. She hadn't counted on murder. But she definitely likes her well-to-do client, Martin Bartell. In fact, it may be love at first sight. With memorable characters and lots of small-town southern charm, this witty and wise mystery proves that author Charlaine Harris is among the best of the new generation of crime writers.
