This book "got me" in the first 3 pages......not easy to do. It weaves an interesting story about good and evil, loss and redemption, and what follows death. If you liked Angels and Demons or The DaVinci Code, you will like this!

I read this book while traveling, I read it all but felt highly disappointed when it was over. Way too much mystical thinking involved. The first half of the bok captivated me somewhat, but the second half, it felt like the author didn't know what to do to end it so he started making up anything and everything he could think of the make it work. Well, it didn't work for me. I loved this author's latest work, but going backward and reading the first novel showed alot of growth int he author.

What did I miss? Review after review, nothing but great things about this book and the author. I found the writing sketchy and the direction haphazard. A retired thief has to go back into action to earn money for his dying wife's treatment. Other reviewers liken this author to Dan Brown, and they were impressed. Uh huh. I was not impressed by the Da Vinci Code writer, nor the story itself. Bleck! Here comes the spoiler... there's a happy ending. What a surprise.

An interesting story told well. Fits right in with a lot of the super natural or alternative history, fiction or non-fiction out there right now.

LOVED this one - it would make a terrific movie. This author is right up there with Dan Brown. I can't wait to read his next book. Clear your calendar when you get this one - it's almost impossible to put down!

Michael St. Pierre is a retired master thief taking on one last scoreknocking over the Vaticanin Doetsch's first novel, an effective papal thriller. When his beloved wife, Mary, is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Michael reluctantly agrees to a burglary for a mysterious German businessman, August Finster. Finster will pay all of Mary's medical expenses if Michael steals a set of keys, one gold and one silver, from the Vatican. Michael pulls off the job, but naturally there's more to it than a simple robbery: Finster has sinister plans for the keys, which hold the power to keep humanity out of heaven forever. With the help of Michael's cop buddy and a Vatican priest, Michael must steal the keys back from Finster and return them to Rome.

I really enjoyed this book. Engaging characters, interesting plot, good writing. Moves along at a good pace. I found myself caring about the characters. The reformed thief (good guy) is forced to steal the Keys of Heaven. Very interesting plot involving religious/supernatural scenarios. Not very bloody and gory like some books are these days. Early on, I realized that I had read this book before but couldn't quite remember the ending. The book is so good, I went ahead and read it again.
