Poeppel takes forever to ramp up this over-populated tale of untrammeled ego, vindictive exes, patsies, eccentrics, and one overcrowded Brooklyn brownstone hosting all of them at one time or another. There's a baby involved who gets passed around in informal but loving fosterage and eventually most everyone lives happily ever after, but damn, it takes a long time to get there.
