I got this book because it was on Oprah's book list. It is...different. I cannot say I loved it, but it kept me coming back for more. All 18 cds more.

21.75 hours of listening pleasure...great for you fellow commuters. Extremely well-written, smart story about a young, lauguage disabled boy and his tumultuos life growing up in a world of dog-breeding and training. Great for the dog-lover and non-dog lover alike; a book that's likely to become a classic competing with Jack London's caliber.

A nice read, but anticlimactic ending. After 18 disks I was hoping for something more...

The writing is fabulous until the last two discs, then the author loses his mind...or his way. He ruined the ending for me. I don't need a happy ending, but it needs to be the "right" ending. Plus there were some lose ends that he did not clear up, which is why I rate 3½ stars instead of 4.

Unusual story about a family that breeds dogs. 81 CDs but you don't get tired of listening. Very well written.
