I've been a big fan of Ann Rule and her true homicide books for years. This one follows the same pattern of most of her books, very in depth about both the victim and the law enforcement officers investigating the crime, and also the murder trials that follow. However, my complaint about this book is how it leaves the reader with unfinished business. I don't recall any of her other books ending before the crime was solved. So while I still liked this book, I wouldn't list it as one of my favorites of hers.

Ann Rule has done it again! This book is a gripper detailing much about the life and trials of Ronda Reynolds and walking you through her mother's angst and search for the truth. Leaves you with a desire to reach out and help.

This is a great book about a mother's search for the truth about her daughter's "suicide". She was murdered but the local police/sheriffs department didn't agree.
I liked this book because it wasn't about a bad person and what they had done and their capture/trial.
Ann Rule and the mother are still tracking down what happened the night the daughter was murdered. Sounds like they are close to finding out. Hope to hear in the next year the result.

This is, I think, one of the only books of Ann Rule's where the crime remains unsolved. I found this to be a great, if hard to believe, read. It is appalling to me that the justice system has so far failed Ronda Reynolds and her family. This is the story of Ronda Reynold's strange death, that spent so long being classified as a "suicide" that it seems the detectives and the crime scene investigators forgot that they were supposed to be doing a proper investigation. Ann Rule lays out the crime scene details and the strange behaviors of certain individuals so that even though the crime is not yet resolved, you get a pretty good idea of who is responsible for it. I feel badly for the Reynolds family and fervently hope that this crime is solved soon.

Rule's emotional attachment to the victim's mother comes through in this book. It's almost as if she's entering a different phase in her writing. While I enjoyed it, there were some typos, some awkward phrases, and some extraneous passages which I didn't feel added to the professional job she usually does. The case is fascinating - and still to be solved. The legal process is disgusting, and she fully explains how a coroner's office managed to escape doing their job for a truly unbearably long time. The victim is not particularly sympathetic; one gets the feeling she might have been quite a difficult person. But the end she meets is so unjust and horrifying. I enjoyed the book a great deal.

(Spoiler) This was a very interesting book and I couldn't put it down! As for the other poster's review, the book does not have a murder trial. The trial was in regards to whether the coroner was derelict in his duties in the death investigation of Ronda Reynolds. This is still an unsolved case so yes there is some unfinished business but I thought the story was wrapped up well. Overall, this was well worth the read!

Ronda Reynold was a beautiful young woman. Very Talented and put 100% into whatever she did. She married Ron Reynolds a man much older than her. He had 3 sons living with him. The oldest Jonathan did drugs and was peeping on Ronda in the shower. A former police officer she tackled Jonathan and took him down to his father.Jonathan was angry and threatened to kill Ronda several times and did kill 2 of her dogs.
One morning the country police dept got a call from her husband, Ron Reynolds that Ronda committed suicide. The local police dept accepted Ron REynolds story and did not further investigating. Ronda's family and friends knew that she did not commit suicide. It took her mother 10 years to get the coroner, a physicians assistant who was totally incompetent to change the death certificate from Suicide to undecided.. The case was reopened with the prime suspects Ron and Jonathan REynolds.Ron was just fired as a school principal and Jonathan is depending on his girlfriend to support him. This book and story recently aired on 48 hours. I found it very interesting and acquired the book. This an excellent, but true mystery story. Our system does not always give the victim justice. Hopefully, Ronda reynolds killers will be arrested, charged and never get out of prison.

Ann Rule's books are the only true crime that I read. She tells you the facts and keeps you interested. She is willing to hang in there and help someone to the very end. She cares about people and she and Barb (Ronda Reynolds' mother) became good friends over this tragedy. I found the book to be well-written and to keep you riveted and of course there were those I just wanted to shake and say "What is your problem? Can't you see past your own nose?" If I was Ronda's mother, I don't believe I would have been able to give up either. If you enjoy reading true crime, give this book a try.

I love Ann Rule and I eagerly await each new book she puts out. She never disappoints me!! This book is a jewel, it's very personally written, it seems to me from her heart. I just know you will end up loving Ronda too and hoping and praying that the person/persons responsible for her death are brought to justice. Honestly, I don't believe that will ever happen, but it's clear that the bungling of this case by law enforement calls for heads to roll!! She pulls no punches on placing the blame for that and my hope is that someone somewhere will step in and say "Let's take this case on..let's solve it." Ronda's mom has suffered more than anyone should ever have to suffer, she is crying out for justice. I hope this book brings that to her.

This book like all of Ann Rule's books was good. However, it was not one of my favorites. It seemed a little repetitive in some parts. The end was disappointing too but (without giving it away) hopefully that might change someday.

I have always been in anticipation of reading any Ann Rule book, but this book failed to deliver. She kept regurgitating the same info over and over again to the point of adnauseum, however I wanted to know who the killer was so I kept on until the very end ...... an end with no ending. I was very disappointed in this book since with all her other books she kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter and the ending.

I am a big Ann Rule fan, this ook not so much. I found it very repetitious and boring. Hard for me to get through and I read other books in between. Certainly not the quality story I expect fro her books.
