Making death enjoyable in this cute cozy with a stay at home dad. This is a light read, easy to finish page turner. Starts fast and keeps going. Deuce is a likeable character as are the others. Finding a body in the minivan on page one, it has to be good!
It's a day like any other for Deuce Winters, a stay-at-home dad in sleepy Rose Petal, Texas, where he and his three-year-old daughter Carly are making their weekly trip to the grocery store. But the discovery of a dead body in his mini-van quickly throws his quiet life into disarray. Theres not enough stars to recommend this book! As 1st in a new series it was just totally terrific! The characters were human, believable, some eccentric, some not likeable the whole story was written with a sense of humor, love and plotted extremely well. This ex-teacher/coach deciding to stay home and be a house husband to care for his little girl is just adorable and such a lovely different from all the amateur stay at home Moms! His wife being a lawyer they decided this was the best way to care for their little girl. I chuckled, smiled and could feel the joy of the family as the story developed!

I do believe that Stay at Home Dead is the first cozy I've read where the main character is male. That being said, it was a fairly typical mystery. A nice quick read.

Very funny and fun book. Some quotes are very "right on" and very humorous. In places it is a real riot. Easy and fast read. Good first book in the series.

A great start to a new cozy series. Deuce Winters is a stay-at-home dad who wants to help out his family by taking care of their young daughter, Carly, while his wife Julianne works as an attorney. The dead body of the football player who ended Deuces's upcoming football career ends up in Deuce's minivan, which sparks many gossipy people in Rose Petal, Texas to be leary of Deuce. Enter PI Victor Doolittle, a pint sized investigator who brings humor to the story along with helping Deuce to find the actual murderer. Not figuring out who the actual murderer was until the end, made the storytelling even more interesting. I'm already starting the next book in the series, it was that good!
