This series is very enjoyable and the home design ideas are a gem. Avery and Derek buy a new house to renovate together. The home was the scene of a brutal murder/suicide 20 years before and the house just might be haunted!

Avery has an overactive imagination sometimes - she loves to think out scenarios for the murder and it's a little annoying. But I can overlook that as the story is very entertaining. A great book to curl up and get cozy with. :O)

The first book in this series was very good, and the second just carries on from there. Lots of twists and turns in this cozy mystery. Who thought rehabing a house where murder had taken place 16 years ago would lead to so much trouble?

This is a cute little mystery with some interesting twists. The characters are a bit "cardboard cut-outey" but the book was amusing nonetheless.

Very enjoyable cozy series. Interesting discussion of home repair. Derek and Avery are good lead characters, fun good chemistry. Mysteries are good but you can figure them out by the end. Looking forward to the third book.

In spackled and SPOOKED, after finishing her Aunt's home, Avery decides to stay in Wakefield for awhile and goes into the business of restoring houses to sell with her favorite handyman, Derek. They purchase a home that seriously stigmatized because a family was murdered there almost 20 years ago and has sat empty since. As if that isn't enough to deter future sales a skeleton is found in the crawlspace under the house. There also seems to be a ghost lurking around. If they are going to sell this house they need to get busy and solve all the mysteries if they can stay alive long enough.

I Love This Series!! Quick based and you won't put it down until your done. Look for Book 3 Plaster and Poison releases on March 2, 2010

I liked this book. It had a good plot and kept my interest throughout. I wasn't crazy about the "solution", but the end was pretty scary for the protagonist, and that's rare.

I just started reading this series and want to read every book in the series. The main characters Derek and Avery have a wonderful relationship that is refreshing. Nothing seems too far fetched as some writers tend to make their characters a little unbelievable. I was wondering who did it almost to the end. Great read. DA in Houston

The second book in the Do-It-Yourself series did not disapoint. Bentley's right style is smooth and entertaining and her characters are likable. I like the aspect of old mystery and new mystery that has been in both books so far. I thought the mystery was well done. I can usually guess the end by about page 50 but in this one I had an idea but wasn't sure up until the reveal. Can't wait for #3.

I like the characters in this series. OK, I guessed the murdered in the first few chapters of both book 1 and book 2 -- but a credit to the author's character development is that I still wanted to read the rest of each story.

Good suspense story. If you pay attention, the clues are there to find the murderer. Nice play of characters and story line. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Avery, Derek and all the rest..."a haunted house" compete with a bloody history and a body in the cellar ........makes for a great read..........even if you are able to figure out "who done it".

I'm invested in the main and secondary character in this series but I get a little tired of spending time 'inside' Avery's head. I understand that it is a way to advance the plot, but it's not my favorite writing style. I also find hat Ms Bentley gets hooked on a phrase and beats it to death. For instance, Derek is continually 'swatting' Avery on the butt. I mean, young love, yeah I get that - but how often do you have to hear about that little relationship twist?

This is a fun story and a light read. It is well written and the characters are interesting. The plot moves right along and does not get bogged down with to much repetition.
