The prize was the promised land.....and beyond. The prize was an empire.
So begins this epic of King Solomon, one of the world's greatest geniuses and the peerless monarch of Israel who brought peace to the whole Middle East. That was nearly three thousand years ago, but the conflict, the treachery, the pageantry, and the romance are fascinating - and real- in every era.
Then as now, Israel was surrounded by hostile nations. The warrior David had brought Israel to its pinnacle of empire, but enemies within and without threatened the Jewish homeland. King Solomon, commited to the dove of peace rather than the eagle of war, stood inflexibly between his own generals and the foreign firebrands who measured glory in blood.
Brought vividly alive in this novel of action and inspiration are an engrossing cast of characters, including: King David; Bethsheba, Solomon's mother; Nathan, Solomon's grizzled, aging teacher-prophet; Nagsara, the Pharaoh of Egypt's daughter; the Queen of Sheba, and more.
