Helpful Score: 1
Simple story, simple writing. The story moves at a brisk pace at the expense of character development. It appears as if Archer wrote this in a day. If you like soap opera-like sagas, and fast mindless entertainment, you will enjoy the Clifton Chronicles.

Never a bad book in the bunch, I am not sure why I don't just devour every Jeffrey Archer book I own. But like anything I find myself reading one at a time and then taking a break because I need to savor it as if the books will go away. I can't wait this time, have book three in my hands and starting immediately! This book, book 2 in the series is a wonderful saga that follow the families only a few years, but they are action packed years and ends with a cliff hanger! I feel as though I know these people. They are my friends and I love having the "fly on the wall" look at their lives.

My Review
This is the 2nd book in the Clifton Chronicles series and in order to understand the story and know the characters it is best to read this series in order. This book was just as good as the first and kept me reading until the last page where once again it ended with a cliff-hanger. As I already own the 3rd book, I was eager to read the prologue in order to see the results of the cliff-hanger. Jeffrey Archer has a wonderful way with words and the lives of the Barringtons and Harry Clifton is all consuming while reading one of his books. I will continue with the next books in the series and hope and pray that Jeffrey Archer keeps writing and I won't have to wait a whole year for one of his cliff-hangers. If you haven't started this series, you should, as you will not be disappointed.

Jeffrey Archer is a master storyteller. I've read the first two books in the Clifton Chronicles, this being the second one, and they're hard to put down. The characters are perfect for the plot and every page keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
I love the style of developing the characters. I am anxious to keep following the story.
