This book/DVD is dummy-proof. They give you the basics on breathing techniques and engaging your core in order to do the moves properly. I used it while pregnant, and it's also of great use when you can't afford to go to a gym or don't have optimal weather to work out outside.

Not as good as an instructor-led class, but, with the demos in the DVD, a fine aid to getting started with Plates.
