I guess I'm in the minority. I hated this book. It was boring, dragged out, the characters were unlikeable, and it was NOT like the Gone Girl as everyone says. Gone Girl was an exciting thriller, hard to put down, which this one certainly was not! I struggled to finish it! Blah........

I give this one 3.5 stars. It held my attention until about 2/3 through it and then I was losing interest. I never really felt too connected to any of the characters. The author did not do a good job of tying in whatever happened between Jodi and her brothers as children to how it affected her behavior as an adult. It was kinda like "who cares?". I really thought this would be better. It was just OK for me.

In the same vein as Gone Girl, The Silent Wife is a fascinating psychological thriller. The narration is tossed back and forth between wife Jodi and husband Todd -- both unreliable and semi-loathsome for their own reasons.

Harrison handles the plot masterfully -- I couldn't stop turning the pages. I rank this among the best suspense fiction I've read in recent years, on par with Gillian Flynn, Sophie Hannah and other gold standards of the genre today.

I would highly recommend this story for everyone who loves to watch an author peel back the layers of a relationship layer by gritty layer, and revealing the dirty little secrets hidden in some couples' closets.

I really liked the book. There were several twist.

Clever, how the author moved from "Him" to "Her". Just complicated enough to keep my interest. However, the ending was weak and hurried, as if the author had to keep a deadline and so sacrificed both story and style.

This was a fast read and that is probably the only reason I finished it. It really had no substance, it kept you guessing somewhat, but really the ending makes no sense. All of the characters in the book are without backbone, and without any ability to relate to or care about.

I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down. The characters were interesting and a lot of information was given to the reader about life situations. I highly recommend it.

Almost GREAT. This book kept me interested to the end. It only was not perfect because of a shade too much wordiness at different intervals. I found myself skimming at those times. The story was a good one though. This has been compared to Gone Girl many times in different reviews. I have read both of the books now and see some similarities mainly because of the marriage disparities, but these are two different stories with two different results. Both books will be bringing you back for more. Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes, definitely. I will not be re-listing this book as it was not in that good a shape when I received it and I only list books that are in almost new condition usually. Instead I passed it on to others to enjoy.

This book started out really pulling me in but the more I read the more I lost interest. The story is mainly about a relationship that's gone bad. I think the main problem for me was that I didn't like the two main characters. Or maybe it's just me since so many have rated it highly. But I was one of the few people I know who hated Gone Girl..

I looked forward to reading this book after reading the back cover, but once I began reading, I was sorely disappointed. I kept thinking the book would get better, but after the third chapter, I had to put it down. It was utterly boring and the conversations between the characters seemed to be unbelievable. I'm not sure why it was compared to Gone Girl, even though I haven't read it yet, but I have read other Gillian Flynn books so I am familiar with Flynn's writing; unfortunately, this book was nothing close to them. If you're looking for a book that will keep your interest, in my opinion, this will not be it.

The book's title aptly describes the wife's character. Much can be said for the quiet type. Didn't like the husband. Very childish man who just doesn't understand growing up and being a husband. Do not believe he deserved what he got though. A very good read...

I really liked this book. Yes it is somewhat like "Gone Girl" but I couldn't put it down. It was interesting getting into the warped psyches of the main characters.

The biggest problem I have with this book is the notion that the female protagonist -- a college-educated professional -- would be stupid enough to remain in a 20-year relationship without protecting herself financially. As for the philandering "husband" -- the man's capacity for self-deception is staggering.

I enjoyed this book. It was dark and twisted but an enjoyable read.

I wish it hadn't opened by telling you the end. It made the ending a bit predictable.

This book had it's moments and I liked the alternating voices of the main characters. Along the same lines as Gone Girl but it did not live up to the claim that it was better.

A dramatic read, much like the thriller "Gone Girl."

Well, this is one way to deal with a cheating husband. Interesting.
