Shane Jones (born 1980 in Albany, New York) is a novelist, short story writer, and poet. He is most known for his novel Light Boxes.

In 2009, Jones sold the film option to his first novel, Light Boxes, to Spike Jonze, with speculations that Ray Tintori would direct. However, Spike Jonze, in an interview with Times Online, said that Ray was no longer a director for that project. In an interview with Interview Magazine in June 2010, Jones said the film option had been dropped. The book was originally published in a small run of 600 copies by Publishing Genius out of Baltimore. The literary underground worked double-time to promote the book, which led to an interview in Bookslut, which led to the securing of the rights by Jonze and subsequent pickup by William Morris Agency, who in turn marketed it to major publishing house Penguin Books and sold it to publishing houses across Europe.
