Jeffrey Archer is the consummate author. His books grab the reader from the beginning and doesn't stop until the end. This book begins in a park across the street from the White House a death and explosion. From here the characters all expand in descriptions of them and their interactions and escapades...murder, arson, etc. I give this book a four star rating.

This is a fast paced thriller that uses a character from the kane and abel series although not very in depth it could easily be a stand alone book. It leaves a little mystery at the end which did not please me but over all a well written thriller

This novel, which was published in 1977, has enormous entertainment value for the things the author thought, back then, a president would be able to accomplish. Here it is 2015 and we don't have either the gun control or the universal healthcare that President Florentyna Kane was bringing us in her first term of office. Archer's use of real people as suspects in this story is also amusing. I breathed a sigh of relief when Sen. Sam Nunn was cleared of conspiracy to commit murder.

I just discovered this author recently who has been around for years. He's an incredible story teller and so far I haven't been able to put down one of his books. This one was the same. An engaging story of intrigue and suspense.

This was a great thriller with some interesting and disconcerting elements because it was written in 1977. The agent has to keep using pay phones, which I found charming. Less delightful was the use of derogatory language to describe multiple ethnic groups and some comments about homosexuality.
