This books starts out slow, but picks up. If you're a fan of Sara Douglass, you will know this. The story line is fantastic...you'll be a little shocked initially, but you'll get over it. Ishbel and Maxel, the Sunsoars, Axis brought back from beyond...you're going to love it if you give this book a chance. And then you'll look forward to the sequel.

LOVED this book! I almost didn't want to finish it because I don't have the sequel yet, but the Douglass's ideas were not typical and boring like some others. I love Ishbel and Maxel together, and I can't wait to see what happens with so many SunSoars getting back together.

Excellent Fantasy!

Those who read this genre know what I mean...great worlds, character development, intricate plots, and of course Sara Douglass is one of the very best. I can't wait to read "Twisted Citadel", the second book in this series.

I recommend this highly for those of you who love exploring new worlds and not reading the "same old, same old"!

This book is a very slow read. I started it twice and after 200+ pages I decided to give it a pass. I just couldn't get into the story.
