Sandra Beasley (born Vienna, Virginia) is an American poet. She is the author of a collection of poems, Theories of Falling (New Issues, 2008), and has a second collection forthcoming, I Was the Jukebox, (W.W. Norton, 2010). Her work appeared in AGNI online, Blackbird, Barrelhouse, Gargoyle, Cimarron Review, Reed, Meridian, Rhino, Poet Lore, 32 Poems, Black Warrior Review, which published Bitch and Brew: Sestinas in their chapbook series. She also writes a XX Files column for the Washington Post. Her residencies and fellowships include the Jentel Artist Residency Program, Sewanee Writers’ Conference, Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, and the Millay Colony for the Arts. She is working on Don’t Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life, a memoir.

Beasley graduated from University of Virginia, and American University with an MFA. She serves on the Board for the Writer’s Center and she hosts a reading series at the Arts Club of Washington and also is an editor for The American Scholar. She lives in Washington D.C..
