Not a very memorable novel.
Julie Ann Long was a new-to-me author, but now I've read two of her books and they were both wonderful. Fun story, adventure, wonderful chemistry between the leads.
Loved this book. Great Hero.
Connor Riordan the heir to the Duke of Dunbrooke wants a way out of the obligations of the title and the abuse of this father, and see his way out enlisting to fight at waterloo once there in the heat of the medical field and after the battle he used the identity of a fallen soldier as his way out, leving behind duty and dukendom , for Rebecca Tramaine , Connor is just his father's head groom and just that somebody who's always listened to her and in her view the only person who really know who she feel about practing pianoforte,

standard Regency - girl longs to be more than a pretty face (a doctor in this case) Duke doesn't want to be Duke - facst-paced and fun
A bit slow at first but it got better

Don't let the cover picture fool you. This was actually a pretty good read. A couple of strange anachronisms, while giving pause, are ignorable.

This book was your typical romance. I really can't say much more than that. There was an overabundance of characters, but they were all well written so Long pulled it off. Personally, I think this book should have been MUCH longer. There were so many subplots that needed to be lengthened and explored more.
Rebecca runs away with her Irish groom so that she doesn't have to accept a marriage to a man she hates. But the trip, & the groom, are not what she thinks they are.
Julie Anne Long is a wonderful HR writer. Can't wait for her next book to be published.

Enjoyable story and likeable characters. Good 'first book' from this author.
This one surprised me! I came by it accidently and was not expecting much, but the chemistry between the two is really good and there are surprises along the way! Most enjoyable.
Did not finish. But, in it's defense, it has some rave reviews (and some crummy reviews) on Amazon.
This was Julie Anne Long's first book. You can see her writing got better, with much better developed characters in her later books. This book also had a couple of historical bloopers. Still, it was a very charming and entertaining story, and fun to read. It made perfect light and angst-free reading on my vacation. If you're a fan of Long, you'll want to check it out. Just ignore the implausibility of the plot.
