Carla Kelly calls her Christmas short stories "gifts" to the season. Treat yourself to a gift and pick this one up especially for her "Christmas Promise". Fits right in with her Plymouth series. The other two stories are fine-well written, true to the period and capture the "feel" of the season-but Kelly's shines. All three are brand new releases-NOT re-packages of previously released stories.

This trio of Regency short stories will enchant most readers; each is charming in its own way.
SCARLET RIBBONS (Lyn Stone) - Capt. Alexander Napier has been invited to Michael Harlowes home for Christmas. Napier was seriously injured and military doctors dont hold out any promise that he will walk again.
When they arrive, Napier meets Michaels sister, Amalie, who had an accident with a horse; she cannot walk. Doctors say there is no reason for her not to be able to walk.
CHRISTMAS PROMISE (Carla Kelly) -This is a very touching story about the captain of a warship at the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Capt. Faulk was in love with Ianthe Mears, who married his best friend, Jim Mears. However, Jim was killed ten years ago, with Capt. Faulk by his side.
By coincidence, Faulk runs into Mears 2 children and helps them get home. Ianthe invites Faulk to spend the Christmas holidays with her family.
A LITTLE CHRISTMAS (Gail Ranstrom) The grieving relatives of Oliver Pettibone have gathered at Windsong mansion. It is Christmas; Oliver has died on his way home to Windsong (from America).

All three stories are different, and all three are good, well-written tales. Carla Kelly's was the most Christmasy, Lyn Stone's was the most engaging, and Gail Ranstrom's the most family-themed. I would recommend all of them.
For those to whom it matters, some of these stories have some sex scenes in them, but they're not gross or over the top and can easily be paged past.
