I love Ann Rule's books. Rule writes about true-life murders and mysteries. Her books are well-written and keep your attention from beginning to end. It is amazing how evil people can be. In this case, a father convinces his 14 year old daughter to admit to murdering her stepmother. The question is, did she do it or did he do it himself?

Could he be evil enough to not only murder another human being, but to ask his young daughter to take the blame and give up her own life? There will be times when you will believe that either one of them might be guilty and that belief may weigh heavily on either side. You'll want to get to the end to find the answer.

This is one of those "can't put it down", "kept me up until late at night" books, but most of Ann Rule's books are like that. She is an excellent writer. I'm always delighted when she has a new book published. The only problem with her books is deciding who is going to get to read them first - my husband or I?

Wow, is all I can say after reading this non-fiction book. It's so, sooooo twisted, you'll wonder how this murder was ever solved, but riviting to keep you wanting to know whether David Brown was guilty or if he was really innocent. Keeps you guessing from the first page and drags you in further until you come to the last page.
A Great Read!

Ann Rule writes about true crimes. By the time that you are done, reading her books, you feel that you know both the victims and the murderer.
If you like true crime, you will like Ann's books.
She has written other books, like Small Sacrifices, and the Ted Bundy story.

I liked this book. I found it interesting how a father can manipulate for his own gain.

Among the most haunting of Rule's books (after The Stranger Beside Me), this is the tale of a father who exploits his teen daughter's desperation for love by manipulating her to murder. Rule doesn't miss a beat as she records many complex details while keeping this story readable and gripping.

Book Description

There was only one way to please her father: Murder his wife....

David Brown was the consummate entrepreneur: a computer wizard and millionaire by age thirty-two. When his beautiful young wife was shot to death as she slept, Brown's fourteen-year-old daughter, Cinnamon, confessed to killing her stepmother. The California courts sentenced her harshly: twenty-four years to life. But in the wake of Cinnamon's murder conviction, thanks in part to two determined lawmen, the twisted private world of David Brown himself unfolded with astonishing clarity -- revealing a trail of perverse love, twisted secrets, and evil mind games. A complex and often dangerous investigation suggested a horrifying scenario: Was the seemingly bland David Brown really a stone-cold killer who convinced his own daughter to prove her love by killing for him? A man who turned young women into his own personal slaves, who collected nearly $1 million in insurance money, and married his dead wife's teenage sister, David Brown was a sociopath who would stop at nothing...a deadly charmer who almost got away with everything.

It was a fascinating story, almost hard to believe it's all true. However it did seem that the writer really drug out all the details. The book could have been half the size (and I'd have preferred it that way)

be sure you know that this is TRUE Crime. I thought it was fiction when I glanced at it, so if you (like me) enjoy reading thrillers but can't stomach it when you know it really happened, this isn't for you.

This is the first book I have read or heard of Ann Rule. It's a true story about desire and murder. Ann Rule also reads her own story. I highly recommend this story. I am going to be looking for more of her books.

The box is in good condition along with the 2 cassettes of approx. 180 minutes.
