This book was ok for me. I like Fantasies and I love Romances so i immediately latched onto this book. However, it's more Fantasy than Romance, which bummed me. It had a couple semi-hot sex scenes and that's about it. I wish they'd developed the female character more. She starts out pretty remote, and stays that way, for the most part. But what made me only "like it" instead of "really like it" where the stupid inserts between the chapters which were supposed to be from all-encompassing, all-knowing dragon voice that is EXTREMELY arrogant. It's always going on about how much more awesome dragons are than pathetic humans. Yeah, dragons are cool, i get it.

This is a fantasy romance about a race of dragon people, the drakon, who after generations of war and destruction, have evolved to the point where they can transform back and forth from human to dragon form. Still, they are hunted and their numbers are small. When a young woman who claims to be Princess of a lost tribe of drakon makes contact with the drakon council they send one of their men on a reconnaissance mission to find this woman who may be a danger to them as she obviously knows of their existence.
After the first few chapters this book just didn't hold my attention as it did in the beginning. The dragon princess, Mari, has come to visit the alpha dragon, Kim. The two have power struggles, mistrust each other and are painfully attracted despite it all. They spend a lot of time flying about in dragon form, looking for a missing girl, fighting their attraction and so on and so forth. A whole lot of nothing seems to have happened for 100 or so pages. I did finish but only after a whole lot of skimming. This is definitely a middle of the series book and in the end seems like just a setup for a future book. Nothing special and not a re-read for me.

This book was a satisfying addition to the series. (and when there are ever more, I'm getting them!) The very real events of human past (such as marrying girls off at a young age) and the beauty of fantasy are well-blended to make a story that is worth rereading. The story is wonderful. I highly recommend this book and the entire series if you love fantasy!
Enjoyed it...very fast read. I love Shana Abe's work and this one was witty with very interesting twists.

Not a bad read. Somewhat predictable but not too tedious.
