This book was ok for me. I like Fantasies and I love Romances so i immediately latched onto this book. However, it's more Fantasy than Romance, which bummed me. It had a couple semi-hot sex scenes and that's about it. I wish they'd developed the female character more. She starts out pretty remote, and stays that way, for the most part. But what made me only "like it" instead of "really like it" where the stupid inserts between the chapters which were supposed to be from all-encompassing, all-knowing dragon voice that is EXTREMELY arrogant. It's always going on about how much more awesome dragons are than pathetic humans. Yeah, dragons are cool, i get it.

This is a fantasy romance about a race of dragon people, the drakon, who after generations of war and destruction, have evolved to the point where they can transform back and forth from human to dragon form. Still, they are hunted and their numbers are small. When a young woman who claims to be Princess of a lost tribe of drakon makes contact with the drakon council they send one of their men on a reconnaissance mission to find this woman who may be a danger to them as she obviously knows of their existence.

After the first few chapters this book just didn't hold my attention as it did in the beginning. The dragon princess, Mari, has come to visit the alpha dragon, Kim. The two have power struggles, mistrust each other and are painfully attracted despite it all. They spend a lot of time flying about in dragon form, looking for a missing girl, fighting their attraction and so on and so forth. A whole lot of nothing seems to have happened for 100 or so pages. I did finish but only after a whole lot of skimming. This is definitely a middle of the series book and in the end seems like just a setup for a future book. Nothing special and not a re-read for me.

This book was a satisfying addition to the series. (and when there are ever more, I'm getting them!) The very real events of human past (such as marrying girls off at a young age) and the beauty of fantasy are well-blended to make a story that is worth rereading. The story is wonderful. I highly recommend this book and the entire series if you love fantasy!

Not a bad read. Somewhat predictable but not too tedious.

Maricara of the Zaharen was born an eighteenth century peasant but raised to be a princess. As the hidden leader of the drákon of the Carpathian Mountains, she represents all that is glimmering and elusive in her kind: polished strength, striking radiance...and a will to keep her dragon kin safe at all costs, even if it means she must protect them from herself.

Kimber, Earl of Chasen, is more new to his role as Alpha of the English drákon, but there's nothing elusive about him. He is powerfully, unmistakably male, and destined to rule his tribe. He's also been engaged to Maricara for yearsalthough she doesn't know it.

I waited a long time for this book! Good read. I enjoyed the first two better. Will read any and all that come out in this series.

Third in a paranormal historical romance series involving shape shifting dragons, this book focuses heavily on the mythology of the series to the detriment of the romance. This is a solid series, but it seems this book would have benefited by being either a fantasy or a romance, rather than trying to be both. The characters were thinly drawn and the end to their story was rushed. The book sets up the stories to come and I will continue reading. I would not recommend reading this out of sequence as it isn't the best of the bunch and may turn you off the rest.

Shana Abe's drakon series continues with another erotic adventure as the drakon from Carpathia become aware of those in England and attract the attention of hunters who would destroy both clans.

A very good read. A strong willed woman who doesn't want to fulfill the roll thrust upon her. A Man who doesn't want to force her but knows he must for all concerned. Good story plot, well written. I really enjoy this series.

Not as great as others in the series. Abe relies heavily on a literary device that was necessary for book two in the series, telling the reader more of the history of the drakon every couple of chapters. Information is not necessary to understanding the plot and thus the narrative screeches to a halt every couple of chapters while you hear again how beautiful and majestic dragons are. These additions were confined to the prologue and elpilogue of book one, by far the best in the series. Of all four books, this has the weakest plot and most tepid characters.

This is not as good as the first two books of the series. I felt like she spent more time setting up the next books then concentrating on the story in this book.

The hero is OK, the heroine starts out strong but gives in too easily for my taste. I also have issues with the way the drakon treat women. I keep waiting for the council to get its comeuppance. Maybe someday. . .

I'll still order the next book.

An interesting twist. Eons ago, when Dragons lived in Eastern Europe, they appeared as themselves. But overtime, they began to need to 'pass' among us as humans. In a time of great danger, they left Europe, moved in disguise to England and live now in the 18th century. In this third book in the series, the old world and the new world meet.

Loved this series! This dragon world is comprised of exceptional detail and leave the imagination with vivid pictures to express the story.

I liked this one as well as the first in the series. I didn't love #2 and #5 as well-- I guess I'm just a sucker for the straightforward romance style of #1, 3, and 4 in the Drakon series.
