"Human memory is a marvelous but fallacious instrument. The memories which lie within us are not carved in stone; not only do they tend to become erased as the years go by, but often they change, or even increase by incorporating extraneous features." -- Primo Levi
Primo Michele Levi (pronounced ; July 31, 1919 – April 11, 1987) was a Jewish-Italian chemist and writer. He was the author of two novels and several collections of short stories, essays, and poems, but is best known for If This Is a Man, his account of the year he spent as a prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp in Nazi-occupied Poland. The book has been described as one of his best books, by one of the most important writers of the twentieth century.
