Sandra Brown has usually been a reliable âcomfort readâ for me. I know the ingredients of her stories: cocky guy, reasonably intelligent sexy woman, they meet and loathe each other but somehow end up entangled with each other and some sort of mystery, fall in love and escape what ever plot they are involved in. Easy reading and a bit clichéd, but usually fun and interesting with twists and turns and lots of sex.

What can I say about Play Dirty? It has the standard ingredients: Griff Burkett is a recently released felon, jailed for throwing a football game for money. Foster and Laura Speakman are the wealthy owners of SunSouth Airlines who hire Griff to be the father of their unborn child, since Foster is a paraplegic. This âjob' involves secrecy on many levels, but a down and out Burkett needs the money. Complications ensue as a nemesis from the past, the nasty and vindictive Stanley Rodarte, comes poking around his sole mission to destroy Griff.

The basic premise of the book is quite off putting, as the Speakman's wish to have a baby the natural way, not resorting to artificial insemination. I had a problem believing this would actually happen. The character of Griff is not especially likeable, although Brown tries to make him more appealing by saddling him with an unhappy childhood. Laura is such a wimp in her personal life, never standing up to her husband, although she is supposed to be this brilliant business woman. I didn't much care for her character and found no chemistry between her and Griff, or her and Foster. Overall the mystery was ridiculous; I figured out most of it long before the end, and the final line of the book made me wince. This book probably deserves 2 stars, but because I have liked Brown so much in the past I give her an extra one, but her next book better be a winner or another of my favorite authors is going on my ânever againâ list.

Yet another great one from Sandra Brown!! I couldn't put it down. The main character is hard to like at first but he warms up. The plot was excellent and even though some of it was predictable, there were also some great twists. A definite read if you love SB!

I almost didn't bother reading this because the last few Sandra Brown books have been predictable and disappointing. But I was happily surprised. Play Dirty was suspenseful and had twists & turns that kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed this one very much.

Another 4 stars for Sandra Brown. Accused of murder. convicted of throwing a game, ex Dallas Cowboys quarterback Griff Burkett spent five years in prison. Now free, Griff has no prospects and no forgiveness in football crazed Texas.

Airline CEO Foster Speakman and his wife offer Griff a deal that he can't refuse...be a stud for one million dollars plus a million a year for life. He just has to keep the secret. Sounds easier than it is. But a ruthless old nemesis is stalking him.

Suspicion again surrounds Griff. Can he protect Laura Speakman and make one last perfect play?

A down on his luck ex-football star (Griff) is released from prision. He served 5 years after being caught taking bribes to throw some games. This was an attempt to pay off his gambling debts.

He's hired by the CEO of an airline company (confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life)and his young wife for stud service. They want to have a baby, but want it conceived the conventional way, and picked the ex-quarterback because of his athletic ability, his remarkable physical attributes and some of his gene characteristics are similiar to those of the CEO's. In order to get the megabucks for doing this, it must be kept from the media. The only problem is that there's a dirty cop that's trying to settle an old score with Griff. The cop is doing everything in his power to make his life miserable. And, furthermore, Griff falls in love with the CEO's wife. And, on top of that, the CEO winds up dead. A love triangle gone wrong?

What I particularly liked about this book is that only a little bit of the past (football stuff) was mentioned. It didn't get carried away with the details. So, it's a romance that us gals can appreciate. And, at times, it sizzles!

Pick it up and try it out. I thought is was a really good book and gave it FIVE stars.

This book was so good. Could not put it down til the last word was read. Sandra Brown's words are so vivid. One character really had me mad and wanting to go thru the book and stangle his neck. A must have for any Sandra Brown or suspence reader.

Dallas Cowboys superstar, Griff Burke, served five years for a crime he did not do but gread and gambling put him in a bad spot he could not get out of. Upon leaving jail, he is offered a job for big money and even though it seems strange, he accepts. During all of this, a crooked cop does everything he can do to rile Griff and catch him at something shady. In the new game he plays for big money, he falls in love and soon is back in trouble both in love and in crime. Lots of surprises and suspence as the tale unravels. I found this an enjoyable read but not one of my favorites.

After five long years in federal prison, Griff Burkett is a free man. But the disgraced Cowboys quarterback can never return to life as he knew it before he was caught cheating. In a place where football is practically a religion, Griff committed a cardinal sin, and no one is forgiving.

Foster Speakman, owner and CEO of SunSouth Airlines, and his wife, Laura, are a golden couple. Successful and wealthy, they lived a charmed life before fate cruelly intervened and denied them the one thing they wanted most-a child. It's said that money can't buy everything. But it can buy a disgraced football player fresh out of prison and out of prospects.

The job Griff agrees to do for the Speakmans demand secrecy. But he soon finds himself once again in the spotlight of suspicion. An unsolved murder comes back to haunt him in the form of his nemesis, Stanley Rodarte, who has made Griff's destruction his life's mission. While safeguarding his new enterprise, Griff must also protect those around him, especially Laura Speakman, from Rodarte's ruthlessness. Griff stand to gian the highest payoff he could ever imagine, but cashing in on it will require him to forfeit his only chance for redemption...and love.

Griff now playing a high-stakes game, and at the final whistle, one player will be dead.

Play Dirty is Sandra Brown's wildest ride yet, with hairpin turns of plot all along the way. The clock is ticking down on a fallen football star, who lost everything because of the way he played the game. Now his future-his life-hinges on one last play.

I saw the NEW title in the book store and didn't recognize it. So, I can home excited to order it, because I am a big Sandra Brown fan, but after reading the summary I realized that I have already read it, but I don't remember reading it. Does that tell you enough?

Sandra Brown has written a novel with more twists and turns than a corkscrew macaroni. She constantly suprises as the story unfolds. It is truly a book that is hard to put down. The ending is dynamite.

If you can suspend disbelief and ignore an over the top plot and characters that just don't make sense, it isn't that bad. About half way through the book, it will grip you.

This was a bit racy but worth the read! I had not read anything by Sandra Brown previously, but I will be sure to check out some other books by her! In fact, I just got Sweet Anger in the mail via Paperbook Swap a couple of days ago...I am sure that I will not be disappointed!

This book has everything - very fast wonderful read. Filled with great romantic tension and suspense, lust, greed, murder, emotional pain, pride and envy. Loved the story line between a extremely rich couple and the ex-quarterback gone wrong, whom they hired in exchange for silence and lots and lots of money!! Definately recommend it.

This book was hard to get through. There is no suspense in the first half of it. Then the 'mystery' finally makes an appearance, but its not up to usual Sandra Brown standards. Not my favorite of hers.

A riveting page turner about an ex Dallas Cowboy just released from 5 years in prison for cheating/gambling. He is offered mega bucks for stud service for a wealthy couple. With an evil, warped policeman on his trail, things go quite badly for this guy. But it is an exciting read!
