Everything expected from Rosenfelt - great dog-loving people in danger with a mystery to solve and a life on the line. Andy Carpenter's introspection, brief as it is, makes me laugh out loud. The tension and mystery make me keep reading until the end, but I always hate saying goodbye-for-now to these characters when I get there.

Andy Carpenter is a lawyer and dog lover. So much so that he takes a case attempting to free a dog from a "death sentence" after it's bitten it's owner. The dog leads to a cold case that Andy resolves to get to the bottom of. The pace was fast and the reading easy and enjoyable.

Wow! Superb! Rosenfelt did it again! Another excellent novel that is entertaining, amusing and "couldn't put down"! How could you NOT enjoy a mystery with an adorable dog as one of the main characters and his wise-cracking attorney that keeps you smiling throughout the novel. Whether you dislike dogs and/or attorneys, this book is a must-read! :)

Pleasantly surprised, first book by this author, at first thought 'oh no story about a wonder dog' but actually it is the beginning when Andy gets custody of a Golden Retreiver and moves on to defend the actual owner in a retrial for murder to get him out of prison. It is easy to follow the characters and it has a light heartedness to it to make you like the characters. Probably will try more by this author.

I love this series. The best feature are the witty remarks. And while there is a flow of events from one book to the next, it is not necessary to read the books in order.

This is my favorite so far in this series! Thrills, humor and surprises as expected, but the best of the stories in my opinion. Wonderful reading. Hard to put down!

This is a fun series if you like light-hearted mysteries and Golden Retrievers. Pretty good character development, with ongoing story lines. The main character is a lawyer who inherited 22 million dollars, so he only has to take cases that interest him. He is also part owner of a dog rescue, and owns a Golden Retriever named Tara. The mysteries are pretty good, and the books are fast, fun reads.

Absolutely wonderful. I've read them all and this may well be the best. Andy and Tara have become my friends and I look forward to each book and I'm always sad when I've read the last word. The humor keeps me chuckling even while I'm enjoying the story.

This is the third book of David Rosenfelt's that I have read and I continue to adore his style of writing. He has an amazing sense of humor and quick wit, along with the ability to keep the reader in suspense until the very end. What makes him even more endearing as an author is his passion for dogs. In my opinion, an author with such amazing literary talent who has the capability of incorporating his passion for dogs into his publications is worthy of five stars, if not more! This book is wonderful and I highly recommend it.

Well, simply put: this is the best book in the series. I liked this one by far the most. Though in many ways, it followed the same formula of his previous five novels, it did so with plots twists and turns that made the formula itself almost irrelevant. I loved it! It was simply terrific! I hesitate to write anything else in fear of giving away anything about the twisting plot! I can't wait for his next book!

David Rosenfelt loves dogs and it shows. His character, Andy Carpenter, tries to save a Golden Retriever from certain death by going to court and getting the jurors to root for the underdog (no pun intended).

It soon comes to light that this dog is dead according to court records and that his owner is serving a life sentence for killing his girlfriend. Andy, who is an extraordinarily lazy lawyer, jumps on the bandwagon to save the dogs owner.

This plot is clever, funny and fast paced. Its sure to interest any reader who likes dogs and lazy lawyers (in that order).

A young man is in jail for the murder of his fiancee. This is a great story of an attorney's work to free his client and to solve the crime. How does a beautiful golden retriever figure in the legal process? Witty, suspenseful. Highly recommend.

Andy Carpenter, attorney extraordinaire, has taken on a new client: a golden retriever named Yogi. The dog is set to be euthanized in a couple of days and Andy wants that stopped, which he manages to do with panache. So, now he is the owner of 2 goldens, his first one being Tara, The Greatest Creature On This And Any Other Planet And If You Can't See That You're An Idiot, Carpenter, nicknamed Tara for short. He takes his case and gets a great result. This unlikely beginning morphs into a retrial for a man who has been in prison for 5 years for killing his fiancé. I love Rosenfelt's style of writing. He has an amazing sense of humor. Probably the funniest part of the book is the Acknowledgements. You have to see it to believe it. I love this series and this one is another winner!

First time reading this author and I loved this book. Great story. Very suspenseful and enjoyable. And, of course, there was a golden retriever as part of the storyline.

Read the Books in order

Andy was a little slow on this case. Very easy to figure out.

I didn't like this one as much as the other Andy Carpenter books I've read. I feel like he's got a formula (problem/legal dealings/solution=dog involvement somehow) and some of the books drag out and aren't as interesting as others are.
