Yes, it is one of E. George's best indeed! But oh, so short! - as well-written tales often are. It's an in intriguing whodunnit involving Simon St. James and his wife Deborah, rather than Inspector Lynley who remains in London. The story revolves around Guy Brouard who was about to build a museum on the island, about resistance to Nazi occupation on Guernsey. His death reveals lies, secret motives, anger and revenge. Very well narrated, too.

One of Elizabeth George's best efforts. The lead character, Lynley, is away from Scotland Yard and on his own. The surrounding characters are rich and complete as is the description of the town, the sea cave, and the sea walk. This one is a keepr.
