This story is one of the absolute best that I've read in the historical romance genre. Lazar and Allegra were so real to me. I loved how Lazar was strong yet sometimes so vulnerable I ached for him. Allegra had integrity, and loved Lazar wholeheartedly; no time was wasted wavering or wondering if she actually loved him. The plot was fast paced and exciting. A wonderful, wonderful read!

A really great romance. The writing is excellent. I could not put it down. This is one of the best romances I have ever read. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Loved this story, just ordered The Princess and Prince Charming (Book 2 & 3 in the series), can hardly wait. Ms. Foley's stories keep you turning the pages as fast as you can and as usual, the characters and plot lines are well developed. I often read the hot love scenes out loud to share w/my husband... (grin) let's just say he's a huge Gaelen Foley fan :D

An old-fashioned pirate romance. I enjoyed the historical flavor and the tortured hero. The ending dragged a bit.

As much as I love Foley's books, this one was surprisingly good. I did not go in expecting much and came out loving this book. The characters were fascinating and so were the back stories Foley created for them. Her writing was above par once again. The only downside to this book was that things felt rushed.

This is a good book. I was able to put it down though, just FYI. This is the first book of a 3 book series. I loved the characters and the drama. A little bit of it is harsh and bloody. There are some unpleasant issues discussed in this book. But don't let this keep you from reading it. I did give it 4 out of 5 stars so it is worth reading for sure!

Meh. I don't think there was anything too amazing about this one. I did love that the love story started off very soon in the story. But as it usually goes in these books, he had to go and screw it up. This wasn't a gripping edge of your seat taale for me, like I thought it would have been from the blurb. It was just ok.
Of course I read the other two books in this series first but, this book like the others is wonderful. Full of fighting in the bedroom and out. I wish I had a pirate prince.

First book in the Triology, The Ascension. I read the second and third books of the triology some time ago. However, this book, the beginning of the story of the de Fiore family, can stand alone. Having read this one though makes me want to go back and re-read the second and third, "Princess" and "Prince Charming."

I love this book! It is Gaelen's first book, but she does an amazing job! I love the hero and how the heroine helps him face his past. GREAT story!!!
