In the front of my ARC there is a letter from Crutcher, he says "the characters are all Crutcher characters... but I put this one on steroids." Wow! I have to tell you he is not kidding. Typical Crutcher with all the teen angst and drama starting off in the first chapter and it doesn't let up until the very last pages. A page turner that explores morality and coming of age, being told from different character perspectives. If you are looking for an emotional, thought provoking novel then this is the book for you.

This was really thought-provoking, like the other two Chris Crutcher books I have read, "Whale talk" and "Staying fat for Sarah Byrnes". This was one of those books that really made me think after I finished reading the book. My Young Adult reading group did not like this book as much as I did -- they complained that it was not realistic enough -- but I didn't think that detracted from the overall impact of the book.
