Jack Reacher has always been my favorite character! This book was good, but something was off and I can't put my finger on it. I won't ever stop reading about Reacher!
Jack Reacher never fails. The story keeps you guessing and builds to the very end. Lee Childs researches his topics and there is always something to be learned along with great characters and fast-paced action.

Oh, what a joy to find a book once again I'd very likely be late for my own wedding because I couldn't put it down. It's been a long time. But then it has also been a long time since I last got my hands on a Jack Reacher book by Lee Child. Prior to 2018, every time a Jack Reacher novel was published I grabbed up a copy as soon as I could always insisting on a hardcover first edition which I faithfully saved so I now own a complete first edition collection up through book number 23, having read each one at least once and most twice. But then something happened so I missed number 24, Lee Child's Past Tense until I recently acquired a copy. Well, for Jack Reacher fans, it will be no surprise that for me this one proved to be one of his best ever. When it comes to Lee Child (actually a pen name for British thriller writer Jim Grant), in my mind there is none quite like him when it comes to his unique writing style as well as his story-telling ability and, best of all, the awe-inspiring character he has created, Jack Reacher. Not all Jack Reacher adventures are quite as fast-moving as Past Tense, though most are. But this one, for the first time in a while adds some new information into Reacher's past, as the title suggests. For Jack Reacher fans, this one is a definite must-read. Five stars all the way! Now on to Child's latest, Blue Moon, a copy of which I've also just acquired.
Each Jack Reacher book is interestingly. (Wished the 2nd season on Prime would come out. Glad there's no Tom Cruise)

Crazy plot
Another fast-paced terrific book by Lee Child, he never fails to intrigue and keep the reader involved and invested emotionally. I read this in a little over a days' time since I could not help but reach for it to continue reading chance I got.

Another solid entry in the Jack Reacher series. This is one of my favorite crime/thriller series so I look forward every year to the publication of the new Reacher book. In this one, Reacher is in Maine and decides to travel cross-country from Maine to San Diego. He gets a lift traveling on the back roads of New England but doesn't get far when his ride needs to return for some business. Reacher gets dropped off in New Hampshire not far from where his father supposedly grew up, Laconia, NH. Reacher decides to take an extra day to find out what he can about his father's childhood since his father joined the Marines when he was seventeen and never looked back on his parents or youth in Laconia. But as Reacher investigates, he finds that there were no Reachers ever in Laconia. Then as he delves deeper, he finds that they actually lived at a town outside of Laconia that was the site of an old tin mill. Along the way, Reacher ruffles some feathers and some baddies from Boston want to throw him off a building -- they obviously don't know Reacher very well! As all this is happening, the story shifts to a young couple who are being held captive in a motel off the beaten path about 20 miles from Laconia. So why are they being held? Of course Reacher ends up getting involved in their plight as well.
Overall, this was another fast-paced novel from Child. I read this in two days as the pages kept turning. Although some of it was reminiscent of Make Me, I would still recommend Past Tense and I'll be anxiously awaiting the next in the series.

Reacher is back! Finally!! After disappointment in the last two Reacher books, he's back as sexy, strong and tough as ever. Hot damn!

I know it get rave reviews and it is one of my favorite series
By the half mark you still don't have a clue what this story is about and yes creepy men from Boston want to throw him off a building? why? kind of confusing on that part I thought
Then the young couple held captive at the motel, kept me wondering why and what is in that big heavy suitcase
I had to skip some at the half way mark because it was so slow of moving forward but instead Child puts a lot of pages in just for a fight scene, several fight scenes that can last for 6 pages--really? not necessary
But Jack Reacher is one of my favorites and I always look forward to the next book

Written well but character is getting redundant
Good Jack Reacher story
This story starts out relatively tame but once the tension starts building it goes up and up with a burning intensity that really grips you. Kept me constantly wondering what was around the bend for the characters. Reacher starts out on the fringe of the main story, searching into his family history, and you keep wondering how and when they will collide. Good page-turner.
This is one of the best Reacher books in terms of building suspense and making the pages fly by. The secret of the bad guys is a little cheesy, but they are really creepy.
