Lynda (librarymom) - reviewed Owls of the Eastern Ice: A Quest to Find and Save the World's Largest Owl on + 16 more book reviews
Great read on many levels. First, for the author's efforts to track these elusive owls and deal with frustrations related to imperfect tracking technology. Second, for his descriptions of the wildlife, nature, and weather in this remote area of Russia. Finally, and most unexpectedly and yet very enjoyable, for his adventures being immersed into the local culture and adjusting to rustic living conditions. It was much more of a travelogue than I anticipated.
