The characters are interesting and mostly likeable, though they had many flaws. This novel is about the present day crumbling estate of Wharton Park which has been in the Crawford family for many generations. A dairy is found and you are taken back to the 1930's, where many secrets and lots of suspense about the families are revealed. It was an interesting read and I thoroughly enjoyed it, staying up late to the satisfying end. Despite some bad reviews, I recommend this book.
