I usually love vampire suspense/mystery/romance with some sex stories, but this book really disappointed me. I have never read this author before...and she is weak on plot, characters aren't too likeable...and the book is basically porn with a vampire twist. Won't be wasting my time on this author.

I've read over a hundred vampire romance novels and honestly I think this is the worst I've ever read. It crosses the line from sexy S&M sex scenes to uncomfortable sexist submission scenes. The characters were not likeable at all, I felt no respect or like for the main characters and the plot left much to be desired. The author listed character traits in several spots in the novel, but the characters themselves didn't show they had those traits through their thoughts/actions/speech. Worse than Laurel Hamilton's worst. Her sex scenes don't make me feel uncomfortable, these did.

This is a rewrite of her first novel "Fantasy Fix" which was an Ellora's Cave book published in 2003. They've left out some of the sex scenes, but otherwise this is the same book. This is obviously the book that gave life to the "Others" series since it has some of the same characters. The book was ok, not as good as her other books in this series but worth the read. If you're read Fantasy Fix, they you've already read this book.

The first 112 pages are just explicit sex so it takes away from the book since the plot is weak in the first place. Her werewolf books are much better.

I feel like I am missing something. The cover of this book said "The First Novel of the Others" which is a paranormal series I have heard of, but this book seemed to have an identity crisis. Is it erotica (as suggested by the sex scene that went on for about 100 pages), or is a it urban fantasy? Unfortunately it does neither well. I think I will read one of The Others series books just to try to make sense of this identity-crisis of a book.

This story felt like a short story that was stretched out to make it a full length novel (which it was). Even with that being said, I still liked it. True, it wasn't the best book by Christine Warren I've ever read, but it was still entertaining. The scene when the "calvary" showed up had me laughing out loud. I also liked how the book gave background information on two of my favorite characters from the Others series....Missy and Graham.

I loved this book. I really enjoyed the interaction between Dimitri and Regina.
I read all of Christine Warren's books. This is the best so far. Ms Warren has outdone herself with this one.

Good read. For those of us who started with the world of the Others back in the Fantasy Fix ebook days [fyi: Fantasy Fix was rewritten as One Bite With a Stranger] it's good to finally see Ava fall. Her sarcastic 'Queen Bitch' attitude is alive and well - even though it takes a hit when she is violently turned from human to vampire. Her teeth-grinding suppression of her prejudices and fears of the Others community, even and perhaps especially her dearest friends, makes becoming a vampire herself even more terrifying...
Of course there's Dima - her not-quite-in-time rescuer who eases her conversion and wants to teach her how to be a successful [and happy:] vampire. But Ava doesn't want to be a vampire and she doesn't want to be happy - she just wants her old life back. So maybe if she just ignores everything it will all go away...
Complications abound - there's a connection between Dima and Reggie's Dmitri, there's political maneuvering between the European Vampire Council and the American Others, and then there's the insane female vampire who plans to take over the world...one body at a time.

The book started out promising enough, but there was nothing that made me like either one of the main characters. Only a passable paranormal.

This is the first book I've read by the author. I enjoyed the book. I found the idea of a "Fantasy Fix" interesting and found myself wanting to slap Ava up-side-the-head! The story was more sex than I expected (yea!) as I didn't realize that Ellora's Cave Publishing had anything to do with it. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. On the front cover it states that this is "The first novel of the Others". It was previously released under a the title "Fantasy Fix". I now see that they can all be read as stand-alone books.

Its my understanding that this is not Book 6 but Book 1 of the Others series. Apparently these are the ebooks that Warren wrote prior to being published. This is very confusing to read if you have read the 4 previous books. That being said, this book reads like a Ebook, the characters are not the well developed and the plot is lacking a bit. I found myself annoyed with Dmitri and his overwhelming dominance as well as Reggie's complacent attitude when she is supposed to be a strong independent woman. Overall the book was tough to get through and I skimmed a bit. Apparently Warren is releasing all of her previous Ebooks.

Not a bad book at all, very racey. Light and fluffy read.

I thought this was a fun, sexy, naughty book. The plot isn't much. It's just about Regina and Dmitri getting together with a few gentle S & M scenes here and there. Reading the reviews here I thought it was going to be much kinkier but it's really rather tame compare to others like Lora Leigh.
It did annoy me that Regina is so passive with her friends but she makes up for it in the end. I think even though she claims to be independent and take-charge, all her actions (at her work and with her friends) says she is truly submissive.
If you are not shy about kinky love scenes and light fluffy reading, this is a great book. I'm an on and off fan of Christine Warren. I absolutely hate some of her books while adoring others. This one was one I enjoyed.

Great story! I wish I had read this one first, followed by Big Bad Wolf then the rest. Captivating characters. The heroine, Regina is likeable and Misha is desireable. This book may have the longest sexual encounter I have ever read, but it was worth every page.
Loved it

Ladies night out has a different ring for these women - Regina, Danice, Corinne, Ava and Missy. They play a little game where the five of them write down their most secret fantasies and once a month someone is chosen to have a Fantasy Fix where the other four endeavor to create the fantasy for the chosen one. This time it's Regina's turn and since she is reluctant to "play" she makes up an impossible fantasy - to be seduced by a sexy vampire. She's thinking that since vampires don't really exist, the ladies won't be able to force the fix and she will go unscathed. But surprise surprise, the very next week there just happens to be a vampire ball and guess who gets to be Cinderella? This ought to be interesting.
Holy crap the first sexual encounter with Dmitri lasted 50 pages. WOW!
Christine Warren writes great stories - her heroines are always intelligent, professional, self-reliant women who have difficulty finding a hard man...oh I mean a good man. And her heroes are always alpha males, semi-jerks who always settle into monogamous relationships without much fight or fuss. Dmitri is a very alpha male who uses his psychich abilities to "make" Regina comply but swiftly realizes that she is his mate and he doesn't want a drone or a slave and let's her be herself. Regina is coming off a bad relationship and instantly likes this domineering vampire and can't figure out why she's letting him control her...or is he?
I liked the story but I got tired of the S&M games real fast since they lasted for 20+ pages each time. It just got old. Otherwise a really good book.

If you like raw sex this is the book for you. Little else to this book except sex, sex and more sex between a human and a vampire so if this is your type of book here it is.
Great story wish my friends had a club like this would have been fun in my early 30's but then again I guess I would have had to have lived in a bigger city. lol but it sounds fun and I guess we got into enough trouble on our own. Good book lots of fun and you could probably see your freinds getting you in a situation somewhat like this. Enjoyable read
I enjoyed the story line, the characters were well suited for each other and had lots of CHEMISTRY (kinda too much, very graphic in sexual content)The only thing that really bugged me was the ending, it all happened in such a short amount of time that it felt rushed.

Although this was the first book in the series, I read it as the sixth. Really liked the other five, and totally hated this one. If you want to start the series, skip this one and start with Wolf at my Door. I will keep reading 'The Others.'

At first i was confused about the path of this book, since Rafe and Graham are not mated or high ranking members of the Council of Others. Then i realized i have read this book out of order, it should have been the first one i read, not the 4th. Oh well, the story stands alone just as well as part of the series since it was the first one written. It is just your basic vampire love story with just the whisper beginning of the series of the Others. I really like Dmitri and Regina, and who wouldn't want a fantasy to come true? I wish it were so......

Good introduction to the Other books. Regina and Dmitri's story is good a chance meeting and lost of hot sex. I liked the book and the story line as well as the happy ever after ending. What I didn't like was Regina's friend Ava...she irritated me enough that it pulled me from the main characters. Back to Regina and Dmitri- this story will work for you if you like your woman a little submissive and your men dominant and arrogant as hell. It kept me entertained and was able to read in one sitting.
Great read. Regina never expected the man she met at the vampire ball is a real vampire. Dmitri never expected to find his mate from the moment he spots Regina he knows he has. This book is sizzling sexy.
If I read this book first, I would never have continued with this series. This is called the"1st book of the Others." 1/4 of the book (the beginning) is about the dominance/submission meeting/union of Regina and Misha (Dimitri) and very little of the book was about any conflict between Others that had to be resolved. Mostly it was the "relationship" (again the dominant/submissive) between the two main characters. I did not find them sympathetic, nor did I believe that any woman would agree to a long term relationship after 2-3 sexual encounters and very little talking. Not one I would recommend but you be the judge

Was introduced to characters I had read about in other books. REally like this one.
I really enjoyed this erotic vamp read, couldn't put it down!
I'd keep this one because I really like Christine Warren, but I let the rest of her books that I've read go. She introduces you to her world not by plunging you head first and seeing if you'll sink or swim, but by dipping your toe in. Subsequent books show more of the Other world and it is a great world. She creates compelling characters and has great pacing. My only complaint about this book is it isn't the best I've read so far. I really like She's no Fairy Princess
This was a quick ok read for me.
First book a very promising series of vamps, weres, fairies, demons and much more. This is one of the 5 books of BFF's of the Fantasy Fix women. Regina and her friends get drink and go to a bar to meet guys, but she never throught she would be taking home a man that same night. Dmitri Vidâme is the head of the counsel of supernaturals and was in the mood for finding aa willing woman, until his eyes sought out a curvy redhead. He knew he shouldnt but he used his tricks to get her to take him home. What he finds out that shy redhead has a dirty secret, she is into light bondage and he will use that to gain her trust since he has a new motive in this redhead that got him wanting her for his own.
Good book. I like this series.
