One of my all-time favorite books by my favorite author. The first two sections are outstanding time-travelling, dimension-hopping Science Fiction. Sadly, the third section falls to Heinlein's efforts to tie all of his books into one story line.

Contrary to one or two other reviewers, this Heinlein novel is one of my favorites and I am just beginning my 3rd (or 4th or perhaps 5th) reading.

The novel is set primarily in a different universe than the one that we readers currently inhabit and takes the reader on a long journey into another time and space using a ship that is certainly not yet been invented in our world.

Heinlein wraps this novel up with the characters of this novel, meeting up with centuries old Lazarus Long and his tribe. If you have not met them yet, you really should!

Time and Space travel...wow

Excellent entertainment, better than even 'Stranger in a Strange Land' (also by Heinlein), this book is on my best-ten-fiction list. Vivid characters, good science, great plot. I will keep it and re-read it in a couple years.

It's been a long time going, but I've finally finished this awful book. It was hard to follow at times, and didn't always seem to follow in one direction. It kind of felt like I was stuck in the mind of someone who didn't know what they were thinking. Like a brain that continuously jumped around. At times, it was just plain weird. At times, it felt a little repetitive. It felt extremely long, probably because it was over 500 pages. You would think, because of the title, that it would be more religious and based on things like the actual beast of the bible, but this isn't like that at all.

The only redeeming parts of this book involve the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland. Probably not the best place to start with Heinlein. I'm hoping that when I get around to reading more of his novels they will be less disappointing. I don't see what everyone likes about this book.

Not my favorite Heinlein, but still a classic
