I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are a little far fetched, but it is easy to care for them and what happens to them. From the opening sequence when we meet the football player and the Beav- well, it just gets better and better. Dialogue is snappy and fresh and the characters are delightful. If you want a great read, this is it. I read it on the beach and had some people looking strangely at me as I laughed out loud.
I am noticing that I either love an SEP book, or am a little annoyed. This book, had me a little annoyed. I felt the h/h had almost ZERO chemistry, the things that each of them did would never happen in real life and it left me wanting to hurry up and finish the dang audio book and start another one. Even Kate Fleming/Anna Fields, the fabulous reader she is, couldn't make this one any better. In fact, if I would have read it, it may have ventured in the 2's. I felt Dean deserved a much better story and this was mediocre. It seems SEP has this formula to write a story, separation, some universal complication, a secondary romance, heroine quirky. Is it just me? I don't know. With her hits like Ain't She Sweet and Match Me If You Can, I can't shelf her. But some of her books, like this one, I'd like to.

I have gotten to where I do not write reviews very often- but this book was so much fun to read that I had to let people know. Just a really great read...enjoy!

It was cute and humorous, but I thought the ending was a bit anti-climactic. Not the best SEP book I've read, definitely!
Helpful Score: 3
I enjoyed SEP's other books more but this one is still pretty entertaining, with her usual funny comeback lines from the main female character.

You will love how this book starts out, and the heroine is a hoot. Another winner from Susan Elizabeth Phillips!
Helpful Score: 2
All of the Chicago Stars series books are great, but this one was one of my favorites. Susan Elizabeth Phillips has got to be a natural born charmer her own self! She is so funny and romantic. If you haven't read her other Stars books I would recommend starting from the beginning, but it's not necessary - just more fun that way. If you have read the others, then you won't be disappointed.

I'm a longtime SEP fan, and have always enjoyed her special blend of romance and humor. That said, though, NATURAL BORN CHARMER is not, in my opinion, nearly as good as some of her former work.
With unrealistic situations (what woman would hitchhike with a stranger in this day and age, even if you knew, technically, who he was -- and then go off with him to his vacation home) that made me dislike the main character, I had to work to get into this story. Once involved, though, I did enjoy the plot, but not nearly as much as I have in the past.
This isn't a bad book, but it's by no means SEP's BEST work.

This was the first book by Susan Elizabeth Phillips that I have read, and this was a great story. I enjoyed the whole book started out a little weird but, it grab me and I couldn't put it down. I am not the fastest reader but I finished this book in 3 days. If you like romance and have never read this story I would recommend this to anyone. It is a great lite read and is very funny, yet romantic story. I will be reading more of her very soon another one of my favorite Autors now. I hope this help and enjoy this book.

I've read all of the Chicago Stars books. This is probably one of my favorites. I just loved Blue, she was such a great character and all the back story on Dean's family was very touching.

This book will make you laugh and make you cry. Wonderful love story with many twist and turns.

Great book, as all of her's are. Loved the story. I loved all of them in this series. Great characters and wonderful personalities. Some laught out loud parts too.

A throughly charming, laugh out loud charmer by SEP. This book had characters that you grew to care about. It is a light romance that held my attention with no problem. I highly recommend it!

This book was entertaining but not as good as the other SEP's Ive read for this series. I had a hard time relating to the heroine. I just could not get a feel for her. Still some of the sarcastic remarks are pretty funny.

Excellent as all of Susan Elizabeth Phillips are. A totally enjoyable romance. Witty, saucy, and charming.

Awesome book! Great story. Really funny too - great comebacks! Definitely recommend this one!!!
In my top 10 SEP books.
This was my first SEP book and will definitely not be my last!! Although I realize I started a series book out of order I will be going back to book 1 to read the series leading to this fantastic story!! Very humorous, witty and romantic!!
I loved it. A great story with the classic jock and the not so hot/typical girl with witty banter and a tons of great drama and of course the romance. I must advise you to read "Match me If You Can" before you read this book if you're a fan of Susan Elizabeth Phillips though because she incorporates the storylines a little. I read this book before the Match me if you can book and I already know how it will end because I read this first... both are great though. I am not a big reader but I realized today I have read 3 of Phillips' books and I liked all of them.
Happy reading.

I don't know if I laughed out loud the most or wiped the tears from my eyes the most while reading this fabulous book about the most disfunctional people I've ever met. Though I must say the opening lines about a quarterback seeing a headless beaver walking down the road was so laughable, I just had to pick this book up.
Great book. Love this series!

How can you not love a main character named Blue Bailey! This book starts you out laughing and keeps you on the edge of your seat with the sexual tension and the sassy banter going back and forth. Excellent fun read!!
I always enjoy a good prison break story, so I was thrilled to find a romance about freeing yourself!
Follow an artist named Blue, as she learns to rely on her own unique talents, to escape from the family who let her down, and to take a chance on new people to build herself a new family.
But how can she rescue herself when she's hot for an outrageously rich football player who could save her with his pocket change?
Can she make her own way in the world and still get the guy? Or have their parents trained them both to run away?

A fun read much like the other books in this series but one of the better ones.

This is the first Susan Elizabeth Phillips book I've read. While other reviewers said this book is not exactly realistic, I found I could easily imagine the events happening. Reading this book has definitely made me a new fan of Ms. Phillips' books. I found her humor to be very witty and engaging. The story provided a light read but one that kept me turning the pages nonetheless. You can tell the two main characters really enjoy the back and forth banter. I would definitely recommend her books for those who may need a break from thrillers or serious dramas.

What is right now the last in the Chicago Stars series that centers around a fictional football team and each book in the series centers around a different character affiliated in one or another with the team. I have only read the last two books, but I didn't feel like I was missing too much by not reading them in order. At some point I do hope to go back and start at the first and read them all through.
This book centers around a wanderer named Blue Bailey and the quarterback of the stars Dean Robillard. They meet basically on page one and the book follows not only their love story, but some other characters from Dean's family and life. Although their relationship was a complete mess, I loved it. I loved how fiesty Blue was, the reader gets bits and pieces from her childhood that help to create the full image of why Blue is the way she is why she reacts the way she does. There are also some reasons as to why Dean is who he is and I loved seeing them overcome their individual pasts and start a relationship. It was easy to root for them!

This is my first book from her and I loved it. I thought it was odd and quirky. The dialogue and situations were funny. I also enjoyed the challenge Phillips set for herself because these are not exactly likeable characters but you couldn't be helped in the end to cheer for them.
I would definitely read more books in the series.

Good modern read
One of the best books I've read in a long time. I started it one evening and couldn't go to sleep until I knew how it ended.
cute book
Fantastic! Not normally my kind of read, but a friend said I would like it and I really did. Funny, witty, but not silly or childish. Not your normal romance novel. Smart and charming with real chracters. Good story and great writing!
Again, another wonderful book. Made me laugh. Worth a re-read.
Natural Born Charmer is a great book. It's a fast read and the characters are adorable. I recommend spending time with Dean and the crew. IT's a great escape and perfect for the beach or the by the fire.
Loved the whole Chicago Stars Series. I didn't like the main character's personality in the earlier book but came to love him in this one.

Chicago Stars Quarterback Dean Robillard is on his way to his new summer home when he sees a woman wearing a Beaver suit. Thinking this will make the drive entertaining, he offers her a ride. Blue Bailey has no money, no car and is looking for a job. Both Dean and Blue have complicated lives, but when they arrive at his home in Tennessee they find an aging rock star, a mother who is looking for forgiveness for her past, an old lady that hates everyone, and a little girl who desperately needs a family.
I loved this book. The dialogue was witty, the characters were interesting. As usual SEP has included a secondary romance which just adds to the story. I'm just sorry this is the last book in her Chicago Stars series. I wish there were more. My rating: 5 Stars.
RE-READ: 2018. I listened to the audio this time around it and this story was even better than before. Anna Fields did a remarkable job as narrator. This is still a 5 Star book.

This was a fun read. Light, witty, fast. A great summer, beach book.
Not as good as Match Me If You Can, but pretty good anyway.
I thought this book was great, a little different from the usual storylines. Next up from SEP, Breathing Room....

I just loved this book, kinda weird why it is the same ISBN but my cover is different? Anyway, I loved Blue & Dean and his crazy family. This book made me scream, laugh & cry. I loved it!
This book felt very formulaic and overmuch on the humor crammed into every syllable; it's totally unrealistic.
I think I've outgrown this type of story. Not to mention how annoying it is to have a heroine who's referred to as "The Beav" for the first half of the book. I couldn't connect with the over-the-top characters or the storyline, and was way too bored to be charmed.
You won't miss anything if you skip it.
