Loved it!! I think this one was one her strongest in the series. It involved Sarah and Malloy, of course along with most of the secondary characters I've come to enjoy. They're all developing nicely and this particular story brings the series into a new realm. I can only see it become more and more interesting! Without giving away the story, it does involve Catherine's mysterious past.

If you are new to this series, you can start anywhere but it will mean much more to start at the beginning and enjoy the relationships and characters develop.

Is this really Book 15??

This is the latest in Victoria Thompson's Gaslight series featuring Det Malloy and Sarah Brandt. If you are a fan, you will not be disappointed. Sarah's midwife "services" are not called upon in this book. Catherine, Sarah's "adopted" daughter takes center stage. Fans will cheer the ending. I just hope that the author will get the next book on the shelves and into our hands ASAP. This is the book you have been waiting for. (Well, maybe the next book is the one we are waiting for) We will see. Ms Thompson you have made us wait long enough. I would suggest reading the previous books, so you will be familiar with the characters. A library book, so I can't help those who have this book on their Wishlist.

Love, Love, Love this series! In this addition, A woman claiming to be Catherine's (the abandoned child Sarah Brandt has taken as her daughter) nursemaid has been asking questions regarding the child and her whereabouts. She says she is acting on behalf of the child's mother to reunite them. Sarah asks Malloy to investigate the legitimacy of the situation. When he goes to interview the nursemaid , he finds her dead...stabbed. Catherine's past is the central theme of this story. This one of the best books in the series, as it is the one fans have been waiting for! Can not wait for the next in the series! Five Stars!

Sarah Brandt is shattered when she learns that a woman has inquired at the Daughters of Hope Mission for Catherine, the abandoned child she has taken as her daughter. The woman claims she was Catherines nursemaid, and is now acting on behalf of the girls mother to reunite them.
Unwilling to simply hand Catherine over to a complete stranger, Sarah asks Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy to investigate. But when he goes to interview the woman at her tenement in Chelsea, he finds she has been murdered.
Though her death leaves Sarahs claim to Catherine unchallenged, her sense of justice compels her to work with Malloy to find the killer. Their search takes them from the marble mansions of the Upper West Side to the dilapidated dwellings of lower Manhattan and into the deepest and darkest secrets of Catherines past.
And while Malloy helps Sarah determine the fate of the child she loves, he faces a challenge of his ownand his decision could change both their lives forever.

This was absolutely an amazing, intriguing wonderful mystery! All the main characters were as terrific as they always are even the nosy neighbor lady was more likeable! The whole story just held me from page one and kept me going through the last page, a book you just dont want to put down!

Midwife Sarah Brandt's world is turned upside down when she is told that there has been an inquiry about Catherine, the abandoned child that now lives with her. Anne Murphy claims to be the child's nursemaid. She says she wants to reunite Catherine with her mother. Not trusting Anne Murphy at all, Sarah enlists the help of Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy. But when Frank tries to talk to Miss Murphy, he finds she has been murdered.

Book 15 in the Gaslight Mystery series is another winner. Actually, the mystery was personal to Sarah, Frank, and the other characters that appear in this series. That made this story a step above the usual installment. The mystery was intriguing. There were a handful of suspects to eliminate. The best part of this story for me was Sarah and Frank. There was a huge twist near the end of the story that I never saw coming. It will impact the series from here on. I can't wait for the next book. My rating: 5 Stars.
