Monk is one of the best shows on TV. For me, none of the books have quite measured up to the show. But, this one comes the closest to capturing the humor of the show. Mr. Monk's discovery of the diaper genie is priceless!

If you read any previous Mr Monk books, you get the general idea of what it would be like to work with Monk. When Monk got introduced to the "diaper genie" I thought I would die laughing. I was laughing so hard my sides hurt.

I really enjoyed this book. If you like the series then you'll like the book. Written from Natalie Teeger's perspective (his assistant), she tells the story of how Monk is no longer on the budget as a police consultant. He surprisingly takes on a job as a detective for a security firm. When Stottlemeyer is arrested for murder, who else does he turn to but Monk? Twists and turns happen, of course. A nice relaxing escapism book.

Mr. Monk and the Dirty Cop (Lee Goldberg)
Adrian Monk is an obsessive compulsive (to the extreme)detective. He is called by his good friend Leland Stottlemeyer to help him prove his innocence, he is arrested for murder. With the help of his assistant Natalie Teeger the solve the crime.

Fast paced mystery with twists and turns. A bit slower than I am used to, but good story line, and I love the character "Monk". I would love to read more in this series, in the hopes that another might be faster paced, and a bit more exciting. I still found this an enjoyable beach read.
