I loved this book! I've only read a couple of stories in anthologies and one other book to date by this author(smart mouth) but this one I really really enjoyed. The woman is deaf and rich and one of a con man's many targets. The undercover cop happens to be the name the con man is using(he uses cop's names on his victims) and the couple is atracted to each other. Hot sex and great humor..I was laughing in many places in this one! Add in a few twists and turns and a surprise near the end and this was a great read I'd recommend if you're looking for a hot and funny/silly read.

Another great one. This is the story of Laurel who is deaf and thinking she is meeting someone she can go wild with and Russ who is the cop she meets and finds out she hasn't been talking with him online but a con man. Russ doesn't like long term relationships and Laurel just wants a wild time-he gives it to her and so much more. I really love these books and Ms. McCarthy......looking forward to more.

I really enjoyed this book. It's loaded with passion, but there's a good story/plot as well. Laurel, a deaf mute, falls in love with a police detective. He also falls for her, although it's against his "love em and leave em" style. Laurel is also stalked by an internet predator that likes to prey on average-looking women and steal their money, possessions, etc. It's funny, heartfelt and a page turner. My first novel introduction to Erin McCarthy. I'm now anxious to read more!!!

Like all of Erin McCarthy's books, very, very steamy. Laurel is deaf, and not sure of how she wants to live her life. Russ is a hunk cop who meets her when she is the target of a con artist. Together they discover each other and life.

I think this is her first book, and its good. McCarthy improves with every book, of course, so it was hard for me, as a new fan reading her latest, to go back to the beginning of her career, but I was not disappointed. Worth the time if you are a fan of hers.

I really enjoyed this book because it kept me laughing throughout. Loved Russ and Laurel as well as Cat and Jerry. Cat and Jerry added even more humor to an already humorous story. Great chemistry between the two couples, and very steamy love scenes. Laurel is such a sweetie (or should I say "bunny" LOL) that you can't help but like her.

Loved this book. Interesting perspective from a deaf woman's point of view.

Just started reading Erin McCarthy and she is great. Sex wasn't too gratuitous and the characters were fun. Also a more believable bad guy than a lot of the over the top "death threats" that are in most romances.

If you've never tried Erin McCarthy....she's one of the best...I loved this book.

fun, new take on this genre. Hero is hard to resist, love scenes steamy.

Typical Erin McCarthy light read. Fun, a little sexy and easy on the brain.

I enjoyed this book. A cop meets and falls for a deaf woman who is being stalked on the internet. The stalker uses women and takes their money.
The cop, Russ, doesn't want to get involved. The woman, Laurel, is sweet and trusting, and falls in love with Russ who wants only a sexual, yet uncomplicated relationship. Simple story but the romance grows nicely with some steamy intimate scenes.

Russ Evans is a police officer who has the help of Laurel Wilkins. To stop a con man, Trever Dean from stealing money from woman he meets online. Laurel Wilkins happens to be deaf. I've said this other places. I'm glade the book isn't totaly black and white. Becuse not every book has a disabled person in it.I think that is cool.

This was the first book I've read by this author and i really enjoyed this book. I normally read more paranormal books and this was contemporary. This book had romance, mystery and some humor. It was very good.

sex, sex and more sex!
Erin McCarthy is one of the best! The characters hold your attention and you want them to succeed in their relationships. (Afterall, isn't that why we read the book.) She definately didn't skimp or rush the sex either. (Thanks Erin.) No need to tell you what happened in the book, just read the description, order the book and enjoy. My only problem now is deciding to keep it and reread it or put it back into circulation so someone else can become a McCarthy fan.
this book was ok, but not as good as I had expected!!!
Contemporary romance/light erotica between a cop & a deaf woman who gets involved in one of his cases.
Laurel Wilkins is a very sweet and innocent woman who is tired of being lonely. She starts chatting with a man online and he asks her to meet him for coffee. Officer Russ Evans has been tracking a con man who is befriending lonely "plain janes" with money, online, then bedding them and finally stealing their money on his way out of town. Detective Evans has learned that Laurel is the next target for Trevor Dean, and hopes to arrest him when he shows to meet Laurel. When Dean doesn't show, Detective Evans goes into the coffee shop to get a peek at the woman, and is immediately taken by her beauty. She thinks that he is the man she is supposed to meet, and calls out to "Russ", the name that the con man has been using. After he finally explains who he is and why he is there, Laurel agrees to help the Detective catch this con man.
Russ can't believe that he is so taken by this woman, but he just can't seem to stay away from her. When she confesses to him that the only reason that she went online to meet someone was because she "just wanted to have sex" and she didn't know anyone because she is deaf and just doesn't go out. He knows he need to keep her safe--and keep his hands off, no matter mutual the attraction might be. He has no desire to have a relationship, but she is 100% tempting.
This was just a cute and steamy quick read. I really did love the characters, as I did in all of Ms. McCarthy's other books. This story gave you some insight into the problems of being hearing-impared. Good book--5 stars

Very enjoyable book which I couldn't put down. The story has depth. Whereas the main story may be about Russ and Laurel attempting to catch a crook while developing feelings for each other, there were other things going on between other characters and they are interconnected and wonderfully told. Erin McCarthy is the best for a reason.
weak story, more about sex scences, did not finish reading after first few chapeters, will take this author off my list
I loved this book!!!!!
Loved this book. Both the main characters were wonderful seperate and together. I read it in one day!
A cop trying to raise his kid brother meets a deaf woman who is being targeted by a con-artist during an investigation.
cute story...very enjoyable!
This book was only okay in my opinion. The sex was smoking hot but the hero treated the heroine as if she were 5. Granted she was deaf but she was an adult. And we were constantly treated to a monologue about how the heroine was like a bunny that needed protecting and Russ was just the man to do it. Laurel needed a backbone. Instead of being the mature woman she wanted to be, when Russ got high handed with her she caved because the sex was so good and honestly, he was just looking out for her. Puhleeze! It gets one star for hot sex and another star for having a deaf heroine.
great book!!
