This is a warm and fuzzy novel with a good insight into the characters and their lives. It was a wonderful read!

'Mater Biscuit was such a touching book.At times it was very comical and at other times very tender. This is the story of Imo as she is raising her niece and daughter, as well as her daughter's son. Suddenly, her mother must come to live with them and there are many unresolved issues for Imo to work on. It is a wonderful story of women caring for women. After reading this book, I wanted to make my own vegetable garden.I can't wait for the next installment.

Slow-moving novel about a four-generation household of women in a small Southern town. I found the characters mostly unpleasant and really never developed any reason to care about what happened to them.

This is book two in the series by Julie Cannon. The story picks up with Imogene, Lou, Jeannette and little Silas still living together on the farm which is yielding a wonderful harvest in summertime. Then Imo, Imogene for short, learns that her mother, Mama Jewell, has begun to show signs of senility and the home where she is currently at cannot take care of her. She keeps escaping from the home and turning up naked at times swimming in the river or on a flat rock, fishing. So Imo feels obligated to get her Mother and bring her to live with her and her family.

Imo is taken aback at how much her Mother has changed and the quick shifts in her moods and thoughts. She realizes that Mama Jewell does have dementia but that still does not make her any easier to take care of; in fact, it is quite the opposite. While attempting to deal with her Mother, Imogene begins to remember her childhood and many bad memories get stirred up and she has no idea how to handle them. Instead of asking for help from her dear friend, Martha, who is the preacher's wife, Imo tries to go it all alone. Finally Martha finds out and steps in to help.

While Lou is now seeking to find her father and Jeanette is determined to marry the handsome new enigmatic reverend, Imogene soon has to deal with a tragic occurence. But it is her faith and her garden that help her again to keep on living. She receives some wise words of wisdom from Martha about dealing with her childhood memories and one day, it all clicks.

Another fun and entertaining installment in the life of Imogene and her family. Recommended for fans of Fannie Flagg.

Fine sequel to _True Love & Home-Grown Tomatoes_. Pretty much everybody finds (or realizes) love but in different ways. I hope there is a 3rd because I love these characters but all the loose ends have been tied up so I am not expecting one.

Imo has to take in her senile mother, Mama Jewell, but the memories of how her mother abused her as a child make caring for her difficult. Lou tries to find her birth-father. Jeanette may not have found the Lord but she has her eye on the handsome young pastor. Mama Jewell, while a real trial to all, is a hoot now that she is senile. There are even peacocks!
