Okay...I'm not really all that sure that I got what I hoped for out of this one. A lot of the short stories in here need a bit more polishing and there's not a whole lot of romance here. I feel like these Vampire stories are more of the vampires that are "hired killers", or "recluses"...but really none of the romance I am used to getting with JR Ward, The Twilight Series, or really any of the hot steamy vampire romances. There were a few in here I felt SO bored with I actually just skipped through most of them!
In the past I tried another "Mammoth Book of"...and they're really not all they're cracked up to be. I'd pass on this one if I were you!

You've got dentists, cops, nobility, among the other more "mundane" types of vamps. Some of the stories are uber predictable while some go off on tangents. All in all it is a good read and will get you wanting to read full length stories from some of the authors.

Ok, so I am partial to one of the stories in particular (won't say which one, but the author starts with "D" and ends in "ina James"- cause she's my wife), but saying that, there are many interesting takes on the whole vampire genre.

Enjoy

This book had so many short stories about vampires... I loved reading all but a couple of stories. Those couple left me wanting something else...they were just odd...not sure how to describe it. With some stories - I wished for more, while with others, they were just right. Most of the writers were new to me, but I did like their stories and will look out for more stories and books by them. So if you are into stories about vampires - give this one a chance...from olden days to current times to alternate realities...I recommend this book!!!!

Romance? Yeah not so much. When I purchased I expect it to be aleast somewhat smutty. Some stories don't even get to that. It's insane. However, some stories are still good stories. I just wished I could have gotten it on here and not paid the money I paid for it. Hope the next person that gets it enjoys it more than I did.

A mixed author anthology with lots of famous vampire authors. Some of the stories were very good, some were OK, and some were definitely NOT good. I really liked the Rebecca York, Rachel Vincent, Shiloh Walker and Susan Sizemore stories.

I agree with the previous reviewer. There is not alot of romance in this "romance" novel. It's nice that they are all short stories. You get a chance to put the book down.

Found many of the short stories very good. All different types of vampires throughout the book. I recommend this to anyone who likes reading vampire romance.

I like this book because it gives you an idea of how the different authors write. I found a few authors I like and have never heard of before.

i waited months for this book, even considered buying it but couldn't find it in the bookstore. i'm glad i didn't buy it. i almost gave up mid book, but unfortunately i can't put a book down until i have finished it. there wasn't much romance and most of the stories were pretty sad. some of the stories ended without making the necessary connections - most seemed like rough drafts not ready for publishing. even some of my favorite authors flaked here. the only interesting thing for me was that there are so many variations on the vamp myth and i heard some that i had never heard before (e.g. Vicki Peterson's Remember the Blood that told of vampires losing their memory each year). bottom line - wait for swap.
