When it comes to writing intelligent comedy, Christopher Moore is one of my favorites. This book cracked me up with some of the crazy stuff in it. My review on this one is short because I really liked the book and recommend it to anyone with a sense of humor that can handle things that would be offensive to the more "conservative" reader.

This is such a funny book. I have a new favorite author to add to my list! It is cleverly written, lots of unique phrasing and imaginative adjectives and descriptions. But the bottom line: I cared about the characters and thought it was hilarious and very inventive.

I don't like science fiction. That being said, this book was so funny that I didn't mind overlooking the fact that it featured a horny dragon. It's proximity causes the entire town to have an increase in libido. There is also a bad guy who must be caught by the pot smoking local cop, who has the hots for a schizophrenic ex actress.
I am trying to swap for more books by this author. Everyone needs a good laugh.

Brilliant humor and fantasy that reminds me of Terry Pratchett only written in a modern theatre.

Moore NEVER dissapoints. This book as all of his was very funny. It is actually a book that takes place after "Practical Demonkeeping" and before "The stupidest Angel." I accidently read the last book first, the first book second and the middle book (this one) last so I really knew what happens to some of the characters but it was still so funny and unpredictable that I have no regrets! The Stupidest Angel, is actually my all time favorite of his so I highly recommend reading this one on your way to it!

What an enjoyable read. Moore has a way of spinning a fantastic tale with wonderful characters and a scenario that you won't forget. All the while, you get to have a good chuckle while reading the totally "out there" story. First thing I thought of when finishing the book was "lol... where does he come up with this stuff?".
This is a story about the town of Pine Cove. A lot of the residents are on depressants and the local doc decides to take them off the meds and give them a placebo instead. In the meantime, a very horny gigantic lizard is on his way to town to pay a visit. Let the party begin!
Although I've only read a few of Moore's books (Fool being my favorite), I look forward to reading more by him. Definitely recommend this one.

I love Christopher Moore with all my heart...I would sell my soul to the dark king of the underworld for him...I would make sweet, sweet love to an underwater monster for him...Well, I wouldn't go that far...But I REALLY love his work...This is an earlier work from the literary genius but in my opinion...One of his best...If you need a good laugh and need to escape reality into the obsurd...This right here is the book for you...There are a lot of laughs and a lot of "huh"s...I would love to poke around in Moore's head...I bet there is some VERY interesting stuff in there...Anyway, READ THIS BOOK!!! Or the Lust Lizard will git you!!!

I always used to say that anyone that didn't think Christopher Moore wasn't funny was crazy. Amazingly enough, I've met some seemingly sane people that think he's not funny. They must be crazy. Moore is hilarious. I want crawl into his brain and find out where he comes up with these tall tales. He is one sick and twisted individual and well, I like that.
This book was another hit. Funny, way over the top and laugh out loud. It opens with a larger sea beast trying to get it on with a tanker truck (which subsequently explodes - no, I'm not kidding) and moves on from there with a fish-fetish pharmacist, an ex warrior babe that lives in a trailer park and so on and so forth.
Moore's ability to write these interesting characters along with the outlandish tales make his books a must read on my list. Make sure you read this one. Yes, it's a bit over-the-top, but, it's Christopher Moore. Duh.

Classic Christopher Moore! Bizarre, ridiculous, laugh out loud funny, sexually explicit in a witty way, gets funnier as you go. Nothing but fun!
Christopher Moore has an imagination like no other. I read this book a few pages at a time over the course of several months - it was so funny that I had to read it just a bit at a time so it wouldn't become a chore. It's a style of writing that is so "out there" that it is best in small doses - but definitely worth it!
I would love to meet Christopher Moore! If he's anything like what he writes about, it would be an amazing time!
Definitely another Moore book. I can't imagine anyone who's mind thinks like Christopher Moore! However, I really loved the Island of the Sequined Love Nun and I found this one to be good but not as good. Still worth the read.
Hysterical and touching ... how does Moore manage that?? Great book by one of my favorite authors. Highly recommended!!
Entertainingly twisted! Moore is definitely a one-of-a-kind author!
The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove is Christopher Moore's semi-sequel to his debut novel, Practical Demonkeeping. Once again, he takes up to his coastal California town of Pine Cove, but outside of the setting and a few minor recurring characters, this is a completely new standalone story.
Light, fun, and entertaining.
Deeply insane hilarity.
great funny quick read
Always a fun time reading one of Christopher Moore's books. Funny laugh out loud moments and a break from reality!
Cute & odd. A fun, quick read.
Probably the most entertaining book I've ever read and I've read hundreds of books.
hilarious!
I thought I would like Moore, but I don't like the way he writes. A lot of people do though, so I hope this goes to someone who likes him more than me.
Title speaks for itself.
Another good one by Moore.
Entertaining, typical Christopher Moore. It's fun to meet some of the characters we see again in "The Stupidest Angel."
Sick, twisted and laugh out loud funny.
One of Christopher Moore's many funny books.
From the book jacket: The town psychiatrist has decided to switch everybody in Pine Cove, California from their normal antidepressants to placebos, so naturall-well, to be accurate, artificially, business is booming to the local blues bar. Trouble is, those lonely slidepguitar notes have also attracted a colossal sea beast named Steve with a shall we say, thing for expolsive oil tanker trucks. Suddenly, morose Pine Cove turns libidinous and is filled with mysterious crimes and a beleaguered constable has to fight off his own gonzo appetites to find out what's wrong and what he can do about it.
Funny and Silly, fun
Funny and Silly, fun
Meh is all I have to say about The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove
Although I liked other Christopher Moore books a little better, I still found this one to be funny and quite entertaining.
