Terri Blackstock at her best! Love this new series and can't wait to read the next one! This had a strange ISBN number, but is just like all the others of this same name.

This book is actually the third in Terri Blackstock's series about the world without electricity. From inside the front cover...Your city is in a blackout. Communication is cut off. Hospital equipment won't operate. And airplanes are falling from the sky. In the face of a crisis that sweeps an entire high-tech planet back to the age before electricity, Deni Branning's career ambitions have vanished. She's not about to let her dream of marriage go as well.

I am not a quick reader, I read for understanding and it usually takes me a while to finish a book. This book was so riveting, I finished in a record time! It was suspenseful and the last several chapters of the book were terrifying! At the same time, as a Christian, this book meant a lot to me because it's content is centered on faith and God and divine providence (without beating you over the head with theology).

I would recommend this book very highly!

Another enjoyable yet easy and quick read. This book makes you think about the possibility of being ready if anything of such catastrophic events really took place. Are we prepared?

Excellent book and a gripping read. This is a series and should be read in order. Author writes a compeling novel with life like characters. Don't make the mistake and read out of order, since references are throughout. Great for sci-fi and thriller/mystery fans alike.

In the face of a crisis that sweeps an entire high-tech planet back to the age before electricity, Deni Brannings career ambitions have vanished. Shes not about to let her dream of marriage go as well.

But keeping it alive will require extraordinary measures. Yesterdays world is gone. All Deni and her family have left is each other and their neighbors. Their little community will either stand or fall together. But theyre only beginning to realize thatand trust doesnt come easily.

Particularly when one of them is a killer.

Best-selling suspense author Terri Blackstock weaves a masterful what-if novel in which global catastrophe reveals the darkness in human heartsand lights the way to restoration for a self-centered world.
_____________________________________________________________
The first book in Blackstock's Restoration series literally begins with a bang: airplanes fall out of the sky in the opening paragraphs, at which point the novel's protagonists and readers become swept up in a stunning set of circumstances, the import of which slowly sink in as the novel briskly moves forward. Unlike the deluge of dramatic depictions of the end times, in which Christians disappear and the world reacts, this story focuses on a natural phenomenon-albeit one that most of the characters believe is a message from God-that profoundly alters human society. Blackstock's main characters, the affluent Bannings, who live in suburban Birmingham, Alabama, initially react to this disaster by putting themselves first, for fear that any other strategy would endanger their lives. Soon, however, challenged by the Sermon on the Mount, they begin reaching out generously to neighbors. Their nascent attempts at a communal approach to life will likely be picked up in future novels in this series.

A terrific book sharing how a modern well-off family has become complacent in their faith and the beginnings of their journey to deep trust in God when all the worldly conveniences we have are taken in one fell swoop.

Awesome book. It makes you think, because it is something that could actually happen. Fast read!

As most of Terri Blackstocks books, the first in this series starts out intriguing and strong, later in the series they become predictable. This involves a typical suburban family into all the electronic gadgets we all love, and leading very busy lives. They are Chrisitans but not terribly connected in their faith. The total lack of power causes them to rethink their lives, even though this distruption irritates them. It started me to thinking "what if?" and I'm not pleased to say that I would react any better. It gave my husband and me some interesting spiritual conversations. I liked it alot.

Holds your interest from the first page!! It's believable that this incident could really happen and how it impacets the life of everyonein that community. Can you imagine, no communication with anyone outside your own neighborhood andthe lack of essentials for everyday living? I enjoyed reading how people improvised, doing things they never would have dreamed of. The suspense of finding who is commiting crimes and the lack of police protection was also something that I had never imagined could happen in this situation. I highly recommend and could not wait to finish the book!!!

This is a series of four books. Really made me stop and think and to realize how much I take for granted. A good Christian series but a lot of mystery and just good reading. High recommend reading but only if all four books are available.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I'm looking forward to book 2. The book was very simple with page turning curiosity. The idea that this could happen someday has me wondering how I should prepare for the future and how Gods impact in my life will help see me through life's journey.

This is the first book that I have read by this author.

I found this book to be a great read that has kept my interest throughout...so much so that I have already ordered the next two in the series.

Christian thriller with possibly real life situations with a nation-wide an unexplained emergency loss of all power sources...the good and the bad and the ugly in people are here.

Wonderful beginning to this series. My husband read it before me, and now my SIL is reading it. Really makes you think about what we would do in a situation like this. Would we be able to stand strong in our beliefs if faced with such chaos? We already see what happens in a disaster and how uncivilized humans can become.

Very enjoyable book. Blackstock is a great writer, just the right blend of plot/suspense & inspiration. Her characters are very real and the plot is intriguing (if not scary!). The book is about what would happen in a suburb of a southern town if all of our modern conveniences gave out on us - no electricity, telephones or any sort of electric devices. People quickly are reduced to their most basic level of humanity and it is interesting to think about how one might react.

This book is an amazing rendition of what it might be like if we as a nation were to suddenly face no electric, no vehicles, no mass marketing, sales, etc. It is truly wonderful to read how a family who is wealthy by todays society becomes adjusted to life without the extras and learns to live, love and survive. They and their neighbors become survivors and at the same time learn that they need each other and God more than all the rest of what they have lost.

Terri has a style of her own and I like it. This book has a very different feel compared to her Cape Refuge series. It is suspense but not as indepth as her other novels. This story is interesting but not her best work. I gave it a 4.

Couldn't put it down! Suspenseful and full of surprises, a good read. Written well and kept me trying to figure out what's happening, while wondering what I would do if I was ever in their shoes. Very realistic in presenting Christians as real everyday people who don't have all the answers but do have their faith in God that carries them onward.

Today, the world as you know it will end. No need to turn off the lights. Your car suddenly stalls and won't restart. You can't call for help because your cell phone is dead. Everyone around you is having the same problem...and it's just the tip of the iceberg. Your city is in a blackout. Communication is cut off. Hospital equipment won't operate. And airplanes are falling out of the sky. Is it a terrorist attack...or something far worse?

Wow, I admit I have not considered, before reading this book, how taken for granted is our lifestyle. This story opened my eyes to consider what is really important and how , with god, all things are possible. When all sources of power are distroyed the Brannen family learned what relying on God alone really means

Terri Blackstock really opened my eyes to my selfishness in todays world. Could I do without today conveniences? ALL of the power goes off in the whole world, phones, cars, house appliances, every thing with power, now nothing works. Go back to the days of washing clothes in the river, cooking by open fire, playing with your children, who may want nothing to do with you at this point, keeping your family together.

A very good description of what could happen in the future. What would we do if no computer chips worked anymore? How would we handle getting food, keeping our family safe, surviving? Would we have a Christian attitude?

My first book by this author, but won't be my last! I enjoyed the storyline, the author's style of writing, and the characters so much. The story was so well-written that it made me stop and really think about what my life would be like if something like this happened to me/my world. It was interesting watching how each character coped and responded to the catastrophic event. The author did a wonderful job revealing the truth of how us humans really are- some rise up to the occasion and some fall deeper into the gutter of self-pity or wrong-doing. I have been happy to share this series with many people.

Not an easy book to read as the scenario seems unbelieveable and the reader keeps trying to put themselves into that situation, yet we don't have the capacity to truly understand it in this age of instant communication and gratification. Terri did a great job of intuiting how people might react. Not sure how this could span 4 books yet, but since I love this author and her writing style, I'm going to stick with it.
